Has anyone ever used or seen use of the chimeras "amphibious" special rule? I recall using it only once and that was a game with a big river in it. My chimeras happily deployed in the big river and everyone stared and the spectacle. Anyone else?

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Nope, but mainly because I so rarely see rivers being used as terrain.

It's a neat fluffy little rule. Basically inspires you to model a river piece to use as dangerous terrain.

The problem is that rivers are always so ugly. First of all, it has to be above ground level, which is weird for water, and second, it usually has to be split up into sections for storage, and that makes it look uglier. It's too bad, but water is only really good on solid panorama tables.

Just not pretty.

Unfortunately not. I'm still hoping to utilise my Chimeras in such a manner, one day.

And that's exactly what I said. It only looks good on a solid panorama table.

Just take a bit larger base and make more water. A little cozy swamp for your chimeras.

We have a few swamp pieces and they look awesome. All i'd add would be something for 6+ or 5+ cover.

Sadly no, my Chimeras have never swum the Nile.

In all my years of playing, I’ve seen it come up once. With a multipart river (like pictured earlier in this thread).

Also, that swamp table is awesome.

In the only game I have ever played with a river in it. I used it to lure some units toward my Chimera then backed up over the river. Everybody forgets the amphibious rule
If you are an IG player I recommend (innocently) making some river/canal terrain to add to your groups terrain collection

If you run Chimeras, and if there is water, put the objectives somewhere only you can get to them
Jumppack and Jetpack infantry can get there, as can jetbikes and hover, but you get to be special for once. With IG, we take what we can get.

I just had an image of an objective marker consisting of an arm holding a sword, sitting in the middle of a lake.

Used it in a few campaign games that were specifically tailored for it, but that's about it. It's a fun tactic when it's available, but I've never really seen it outside of those particular games.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

I have used it a few times. I think the first was a surprise for the opposing force. The salamander scout tanks are also amphibious. I have made a little amphibious force before for a beach landing. Fun times!

My store used to have a lot of river terrain, canals, and even a lake or two. More than once my chimeras became boats. It was fun back in later 3rd edition when rhino rushes were all the fad. Park in a lake, bet on how many Rhinos immobilized themselves rushing the objectives.
