Subject: Good FMC alternative to Tetrad

So I absolutely love the Tetrad. As a long time "undivided" player, it seems tailor made for me. However, it is pretty expensive and I find myself only able to fit the Tallyband with it at 1850. I'd like to try other "Core" options, but none of them allow the points for a "good" Tetrad. So it occurs to me that fielding 3 FMC Daemon Lord options might be a good substitute. They would be more durable than each DP and feel up the points for the other Cores The main 2 core options I want to try are an all Hound Murder Horde, or an 8 E-Flamer/1 Horror unit Warpflame Host. So given that, what 3 FMCs would be good? The 3 I would like to try are: LoC with Robes as WL Belakor for Invis & Shrouding D-Thrister Other options I'd consider would be a Nurlge Prince with Biomancy or Fateweaver (although he would prevent me from using a LoC since I use the same model as either) Any thoughts? -

Those 3 are some very good choices you have all the support you could needB from the LoC and Belakor.
However, I tend to find one D-Thirster gets killed very quickly so you might want to consider two. But that of course depends on how much armour you are facing.

I run the Murderhorde, only I run it with the D-thirster and a Chaos Knight. However, if I were to dump the Knight, I'd go with the D-Thirster, LoC w/robes and Fateweaver. Fateweaver IMO is still one of the best force-multipliers in the Chaos army, better than Be'lakor. I have also ran the Murderhorde with Fatey and Double D-thirsters.
You still need the Grimoire in this list in order to keep the Thirster alive and I usually put that on my Herald on Jugger.

Another alternative that I have tried is the Nurgle formation with 4 FMC's. They actually synergized better than I thought. I had a test game against a nasty Dark Angels Battle Company (overwatch at full BS with massed grav weaponry isn't fun for my thirsters!). Just assault with the nurglings first to take away their overwatch and then your D-thirster can safely assault.

How competitive are you trying to be? It might be fun to do a special snowflake list of differently equipped Flyrants.

Well, my Wulfen book lists the Command choices as "0-3". I know some books are printed with "0-4", but since I can't proof that by whipping out a copy the says that, I don't want to try it.
I haven't tried Fateweaver lately. I used him a bite back in 6th ed and was always disappointed and wished he was a regular LoC. That has become even more true for me now that the Incursion provide Warpstorm manipulation and the Robes make the LoC much harder to kill. I play aggressively and like MCs that can assault (which FW cannot nor should never try)
I'd be willing to try FW, Belakor and a D-Thirster

1850 list that came in 4th at 2016 lvo that I copied for a minute, was fun and had a lot more control than I was expecting.
CAD :
HQ -
Fateweaver - 300
Daemonic heralds-
Tzherald w/ disc, ml 3, exalted reward - 150
Tzherald w/ disc, ml 3, locus of conjuration, exalted reward - 375
Troops-
Pink horrors x 11 - 99
Pink horrors x 11 - 99
Fast attack-
Screamers of Tzeentch x 8 - 200
CAD #2:
HQ -
Be'lakor - 350
D-thirster w/ 2 x greater and 1 x lesser rewards - 325
Troops-
Pink horrors x 11 - 99
Nurglings x 3 - 45
I know you don't get incursion but it's a lot of fun with some flying guys. Honestly I took the exalted off second herald(meant for portaglyph) in place of paradox. But it was a blast and a lot harder to deal with than I thought it would be.

I find a tetrad works best with a combined arms detachment of Tzeentch demons... All those extra ward charges come in handy to buff those princes. My HQ is usually a load of change or a demonic Herald, with the paradox. That allows me to summon more bodies on demand.
