The description for the hidden blade detachment the EC get says that the units you pick do not count towards normal reserves and so are no subject to the restriction for drop assault (must take drop pods). This implies you can take both rites of war since it's the only way you can take drop pods and it mentions the other formation. Is this correct? I thought you were restricted to one rite per army?

You can build an army that meets the requirements for multiple Rites of War quite easily, that doesn't let you take multiple Rites.

'Hidden Blade' specifically is an option for an army that's using the Maru Skara. You can't use it in an army with any other Rite of War.

Drop Pod Assault is mentioned as an example of a rule that reference normal Reserves as opposed to the Hidden Blade special Reserves location, not as an intentional reference to Drop Pods specifically.

You are.

It's talking about the Drop Pod Assault rule

since it's the only way you can take drop pods

Drop Pods for troops as dedicated transports, yes, but stuff like the Kharybdiss is available as a heavy support choice, and still has the Drop Pod Assault rule.

How do you intend to take 2 ROW?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just to point out if you have missed it. 1 ROW per detachment and the maru skara prevents you from taking any space marine allies. You wouldnt be able to take a second detachment with a praetor for the other ROW anyway.

I didn't understand why the rite of war was making reference to another rite of war "drop assault" if that was the case. Why say these reserves don't count towards the restrictions on drop assault if you can't use that rule without its own rite of war?

It wasn't mentioning the rite of war "drop assault." It was mentioning the Drop Pod Assault special rule, which is a rule possessed by things such as the Kharybdis claw which is available as a Heavy Support choice.

Ah right. I forgot about that thing. Personally I don't get the restriction on normal drop pods. Its a huge limitation having to put everything in drop pods and only starting with half of your army.

Because otherwise having your entire army deep strike in risk free on turn one would be massively unfair to whoever's on the receiving end?

Having half your reserves turn up turn one automatically is better than any other method of reserves.

Because 'Drop Pod Assault' was given as an example of a rule of a certain type, not as a specific rule the Rite affects.
