I recently have been putting together some noise marines for my emperors children 40k list and was very unsatisfied with the GW 40k models, to get a unit of 10 noise marines with 2 blastmasters it cost 25$ for 1 blastmaster (with other bits included) 15$ for the shoulder pads and around 60$ for the base units. Totalling around $130 for 10 models! So I decided just to buy 2 units of palentine blades and 1 unit of kakophani from forgeworld and the models are not only around the same price but they are beautiful models that are incredibly detailed!
I was wondering if anyone else encountered a similar situation where ordering similar FW models was more codt effective and also got you a better quality model.

At one point due to the GBP difference, the Eldar Wraithseer was CHEAPER than buying an Eldar Wraithlord. The Wraithseer came with a full Wraithlord set.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.
When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do. |

10 GW Tempestus Scions costs $70. 10 FW DKK Grenadiers costs ~$50. Fine by me because Grenadiers have much better sculpts, IMO!

I was going to see if the Death Riders (around $90 US for 5) are cheaper than ordinary Rough Riders but apparently Rough Riders have been discontinued. Plague Marines are pretty close in price per model to a Death Guard tactical squad, but the Death Guard are Calth plastics with upgrades while the Plague Marines are single-pose resin casts with no upgrade weapons.
Also HH Kharn is a bit cheaper than new Kharn.

Yeah FW is renown for their quality and good customer service, I find it kind of funny how GW bumping up its prices so much makes FW prices seem reasonable.

The cost is actually closer to neck-and-neck when you consider it's about another $20 for any special weapon configuration that isn't flamer/ GL.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Seemingly most Characters that GW releases are at or exceed the price of an FW equivalent. Many infantry squads that are sold in boxes of 5 are similar in price to FW equivalents. Heavy units like cavalry or multiwound models also tend to flout around or exceed the FW price these days.

To be fair, these are also relatively easy to convert if you have bitz, and there's no plasma gun model to buy.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |
