Hello, I have been having problems searching the gallery by user since dakka was in maintenance this afternoon.
For example, this type of url will take a while responding and end up with and empty dakka page
http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-search.jsp?u=95538

Additionnaly, I got the following tomcat error messages twice, might be of help :
Spoiler:

Already tried out some blind ideas (different browers/computers, cache clearing, etc). But anyway, a 500 indicates something is wrong server side.

Thanks in advance !

Yup, this is a known bug.

Bad news?

It might take a while to fix! (up to 2 weeks, possibly more)

Good news?

Well, it will get fixed eventually, and when it does get fixed, the site will be stronger than ever!

Lego will, I'm sure, post periodic updates when he can!

Any workarounds? Just finished painting a squad and wanted to update my blog and hit this same problem.

If not I can wait patiently. And by that I mean shiver quietly in the withdrawal corner until I can get my Dakka picture uploading fix.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

According to Lego, this is a result of having more users than ever, coupled with a recent security update which is making the site a bit unstable. Just for re-emphasis, this isn't any kind of attack on the site (ala Warseer), just an infrastructure problem. It would have been fixed already, but Lego's a bit busy travelling at the moment, and won't be in a position to instigate a proper fix for a week or two.

So no need to panic, the forum will keep working, but the gallery is going to be a bit funny until it gets sorted out, and the direct homepage will possibly stop working (so bookmark the forum page if you haven't already).

Good to know Ketara, thanks. That would mean that trying again once the weekend rush passes could be worth a try then.

Normally I upload pictures directly to the gallery, and then link from there. I just used the attachment option in a post, and uploaded the pic that way.

Is this just making the problem worse? Or can I keep doing it this way?

Should be fine for now, feel free to use it as normal.

spoke too soon, might continue hiccuping. If you upload something, it should appear, but I'd hold off for a couple of days just to be safe

An easy work around is to use a photo hosting site and link there, then upload here once things are stable.

If uploads are working that's an option too.

Tried uploading photos yesterday, timed out. Tried again, got an Apache Tomcat error. Can't seem to view my gallery either.

Guess I'll go outside and talk to people.

I know, I know. It's just I love the dakka gallery.

I think this is a sign that I need to find some cash for DCM again.

Yep frustrations with trying to load images myself, and same error message as posted above!

Problems with photobucket etc is if they get tweaked, the images go bye-bye here

Thanks, there is still one small glitch that can be triggered, but not a massive one, a fix is on the way and if it happens, the site will automatically pick itself back up after an hour or two.
