So i have a fairly decent sized vampire counts army, for those that have been palying since 8th or before, the army box and the battleforce box, so i have a decent amount of models sitting on square bases. all of them. now i dont know about you guys, but that is a WHOOOOllle lot of zombies, ghouls and skellies to rebase. whats the best way to go about that?

Well square bases are totally acceptable. But if circle bases are more appealing to you visually.. The easiest way is to use some clippers, snip the lip off the square base and glue that now flat tiny (formerly the square base) to the circular base. Once you base with sand or flock you won't even notice the lip.

Cheers friends. I did not know that the square bases were still accpetable, and i rather like being able to rank and file my units. If the makes any sense.

Depends entirely on how they're attached to the bases...
Are they on flat bases, or are they slotted into the bases?
Are they attached with plastic glue or super glue?
Is there any basing material that might cause a problem?
Ultimately, the answer is usually to carefully use a razor knife to remove them from the base. If they were glued on using super glue to flat bases, you can usually just put them in the freezer to make the glue brittle and then just snap them off.
Have you considered just keeping the square bases? There is nothing in the Age of Sigmar rules requiring round bases. Sure, they look nice given the skirmish nature of the game, but they aren't mandatory.

I run horde anyway so the aesthetic and easy of moving with movement trays until pile ins would help a ton to be honest, so ill porbably keep them on swuares, especially if there is going to maybe be a larger than skirmish scale style of AOS to come out so that i can bring all the hordes and monsters to my hearts content

I tried to run my dwarfs initially still using my movement trays. let me tell you man, it doesn't help you tactically. I cant even fathom using them on the trays now. So many times my units positioning comes into play and spreading them out helps board presence.
Are they easier to move with the trays? totally.
Is it tactically sound? absolutely not, unfortunately.

Just because it's still legal to use square bases, does not mean they are "acceptable". I have always hated the square bases, practical as they may be. They are ugly and restricted the look of some models since you had to model them to fit together. If my desire/ability to play Fantasy hadn't been killed by 8th ed + a move to a new area with no real Fantasy group, you bet I'd be rebasing every single AoS model I owned (which at one point was a lot) -
