I was looking to get some blood nights, as I am a big fan of their rules. However, is it unrealistic to use Warmarchine Cryx Baneriders as bloodknights? I really don't want to spend $100 for 5 poorly cast resin minis.

My brother is okay with it (he's my main oppoent rn), but generally would other people be okay with me using them? It doesn't seem to out of place to me, but I am not completely sure of the consensus on this type of stuff in the AOS community.

Sorry if its a silly question,
cheers!

I'm sure it would be fine, it's your army after all.

A friend of mine did a great conversion for Blood Knights using the plastic chaos knights and bits from the grave guard kit. Unique and also GW models.

There's always mantic, or look at Perry miniatures and do some conversion work.

I'd be OK with it, but then again, I'm a laid back player. The only times it would make a difference would be playing at a GW store, anything sponsored by GW or in a tourney where it was specified all models must be GW (for instance, my LGS has been running Start Collecting! tourneys, where you can only use the contents of the box). It's been my experience that most players don't care if some of your stuff is non GW. They share the same frustrations with GW's poor sculpts of some models.

Well their blood knights are £61.50 which is obscene for five models.

I doubt many would insist you use GW models, staff probably will though.

I'd suggest using high elf dragon princes if you want a proxy model.

Slender vampiric looking models.
Covered in dragon styled armour.

And stupidly cheap in comparison, plus plastic.

Most casual play groups probably wont care if you use non GW models. Tournaments may or may not care, tough to say. If you are wanting to play in an actual GW store they almost certainly won't let you use another manufacturer's models.

If you use other GW models (like Dragon Princes as suggested by others) and put at least some minimal effort into painting them properly and converting them with some VC bits you should be fine for almost any setting.

I actually played a game today using Warma hordes models (bane riders and some guys on foot that I borrowed from my brother) nobody had any issue with it, so I guess the point is moot.

Cheers!
