Hi all,

I'm dead keen on a CSM list that has a large summoning component . Are there any tip or tricks to optimise?

As far as I can see, the Black Crusade formation with the sorcerers may be the best bet to get access to power dice but they have no bonus to casting as the C:SM do.

All CSM have for this tactic is just taking a bunch of Lvl 3 sorcerers with Spell Familiars (and you can take a bunch with the Cyclopia Cabal formation)

Its still isn't very good though because you aren't daemons so will still perils a bunch. If you want to do chaos summoning taking daemons to do it was superior

I would say take just one demon prince so you have the demon rule for the summoning and the rest sorcerer for the warp charges.
Theire is an artefact who makes you a demon too, that a sorcerer can take in Crimson slaughter prophet of the voice.

You're going to be way better off just allying in 1 to 2 Tzeentch Heralds, one with Paradox, and a 1 to 2 units of Horrors. Paradox guarantees WC 3 powers with 5 dice. Still doesn't save you from perils but mitigates it due to having to use less dice.

A daemon Prince still has to roll one power on his God table. What you want is an unmarked sorcerer from the Crimson slaughter supplement. Make him level 3 with a spell familiar and Prophet of the Voices. PotV makes him a daemon so you won't peril as easy. Spell familiar lets you re-roll failed tests. PoTV makes it so you can only join units of possessed. Good news is that they are troop selections in CS supplement, so his bodyguard will fill a troop slot.

Then ally in a bunch of unmarked sorcerers in a cabal for warp dice and access to other powers.

This is safest and most efficient way to summon with CSM.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Btw- I would take a unit of cultists for your other troop choice and keep them close to your sorcerer if you roll sacrifice. Nothing like trading a 4-point cultist for a herald. Especially if it's a mastery level 2 herald of tzeentch that rolls for possesion!!

Now you turned that cultist into a herald that then turned into a Bloodthirster!!

If you're in a playgroup that's okay with Forge World content find the Death of Kasyr Lutien Legacy in Imperial Armour 13. Stick it on a backfield Land Raider and your summoners get some rerolls to make the whole thing more reliable.

I've played against a pretty nasty CSM + Daemon summoning list. He had 5 Cabal Sorcerors, A CAD with Daemon Prince and 5 units of Cultists (one unit for each sorcerer) and a CAD of Daemons with a Robed Txz Prince, 2 Tz Heralds and 2 Horror units. He had something like 30+ WC dice each turn.

He still attempted Malefic powers with the Sorcerors, but usually just Cursed Earth, Sacrifice (both are only 1 WC, so casting with 2-3 dice + Spell familiar solve the Perils issue) and Possesion for a D-Thirster.

He kept summoning Disk Heralds for more WC and powers. Over the course of the game he summoned 3 D-Thrister. If I hadn't been using Eldar, I would have lost due to sheer weight of the bodies coming in.

One allied detachment of Herald w/ Paradox & Horrors. I gave my Herald a Disc so he has the option to split off and do "Jump-Cast-Turbo" shenanigans, but YMMV.
