So going to in before dont take them.

Currently im running them with a chain fist and special weapon, should i swap out one bolter guy for a lighting claw guy, just so i can get some init on the first round of assault?

To many unpainted models to count.

The S8 AP2 is better than S4 AP3 Shred.

You want to make the most of TL. CML is the best weapon for that as the extra range is too important for such a slow unit.

Since this is about getting the most out of them, remember the majority of their cost is tied up in those power fists. If they don't swing those, you're not realizing their value. So focus on what prevents them from successfully charging.

Twin-linked shooting is nice, but use it to remove threats so they can survive to charge whatever they landed next to. BS2 overwatch may actually be more valuable.

Competitive Units you want to charge with power fists are often more mobile, so it's important to control the board and limit their options. This is another reason they're good paired with Ravenwing.

Of course the best way to get terminators into close combat is a Land Raider, but wow that's expensive and only makes sense in a Combined Arms Detachment. And if you're buying a Land Raider why not fill it with Deathwing Knights instead?

Yeah i just had the conversation of what happens if you take a DW formation and give knights a dedicated transport LR, turns out you just field the LR with no knights inside so...kinda not worth it.

I can see the power fists being really narley, and i have had them just crush things, but i have noticed terminators getting wrecked by things like rust stalkers simply due to the sheer amount attacks, and rending. Then AP 2 on the second round of combat.

Yeah but nobody plays Ruststalkers but me: my favorite model! Terminators are more often afraid of Riptides and grav. But not just AP2 - with so few targets, your opponent can throw all his dice and every 1 you roll is a big loss.

What about building around a conclave with one big unit doing most of the lifting?

I think fluffy double wing is the way to go, Ravenwing gives much needed mobility which Terminators lack. I'd defiantly consider a DWSF with either a RWSF or RW Attack Squadron.

For the DWSF I wouldn't take anything more than the bare bones though - Lib, Command Squad, DW Squad. Give them TH/SS and CML to supplement RW Black Knights
