Ok so I am going to a highlander event soon and am pondering lists. Rules: No duplicate units (except troops and only when you have taken all of the available to your detachments) 3 flyers max, no fw super heavies, 1 fw unit per player. Also all battle brothers are treated as allies of convenience.


White Scars CaD (Primary)

LIbrarian (warlord) lvl 2, melta bombs, hunters eye 115

Legion of the damned (5), melta, multi melta, combi melta 155

Scout Squad (5) bolters, melta bomb, land speeder storm 100

I’m not sure what you mean with the duplicate troops restriction, but does that prohibit the 2nd bike squad in your allied detachment?

IIRC the IH CT works on vehicles, so why not fly the Fire Raptor as part of that detachment?

Yes you can duplicate a troop in your list if all other troops have already been selected so I can take 2 bikes. You are totally right about the fire raptor. No reason to not be iron hands

Lol so you don't see anything worth changing? I thought adding 1 melta bike squad was good as 4 grav units is a lot haha

If you are then I am pretty sure that you cannot take the 2nd bike squad in the Allied detachment because you have tactical and scouts.

Maybe take another empty pod (in the other detachment?) in case you don't go first, so that your grav cents dont' come in turn 1 with nothing good to shoot at?

Other than that, yeah, I dunno. I would maybe play around with the command squad going all cc perhaps? That way you dont' have to worry about jinking... just equip them all with bolt pistol & power axe/maul, and just move, flat out, jink everywhere until you hit cc. I'd also get the free champion upgrade at that point (free power weapon at least) for a little extra WS... doesn't much matter though.

Also, I don't think you can have 2 bike squads in the allied... maybe just take some scouts in LSS instead? Or, you could move one of them to the WS detachment as a troops, right?

Well the bikes are troops as I have an HQ on a bike. So you have to have every troop available taken before you can repeat. I have 1 of each then my first repeat is a another bike unit. I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed but I can email them anyways

I cant take another empty pod as its highlander so you can not repeat anything but troops.

The command squad never jinks. They have 3++ saves and 4+ fnp. Grav is too good to take mauls etc over imho.

I don't know why I couldn't take the second bikes but will investigate. Even if I cant I cant take a second land speeder storm. Only the scouts so that would be pretty useless. :(

Ah ok. weird format... I figured the "only one of" rules were per-detachment. Sorry, the rules were a bit hard to understand at first. Got it now. What if you took the second pod as a dedicated for the tacticals in the bunker? I can't imagine there are limitations on dedicated transports... maybe there are lol?

Lol you can repeat NOTHING! even transports. Only troops and that's if you took all the troops available to your detachments. So in order to take 2 scatter bike units you need:
ranger
guardians
storm guardians
etc
