I served with Ricky and was happy to work on his Mastodon. This is a gigantic model to put it mildly, so it presented its own set of challenges. It also had to match his preexisting army's color scheme. Beyond that, it was a fairly simple, straightforward project and its going to look imposing on the battlefield.

Looks good but the grass on the treads is weird, looks like it's been growing there a fair while rather than churned up by the tank.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

Awesome paint scheme..not sold on the grass bits and never been a fan of the "OSL All The Vents!" Mentality but otherwise absolutely smashing!

I'll second this, amazing work but the grass doesn't look right and I don't mind OSL when appropriate, and btw yours is down well from a technical standpoint, but I personally dislike vents glowing like that. It just isn't really how ventilation works, I think the vents would look better with some oxidation and corrosion instead of mysterious glowing heat.

This is minor quibbles though and maybe the client requested it :/ At which point there is nothing you can really do but make their resquest a reality. Great paint scheme and execution. I actually dislike that model but your paint job has made me reconsider.

Not a huge fan of the model. The paint work looks good, but the scheme is pretty boring --- and sadly I'll second the grass tuft looking out of place.

I like the grass. Being near enough tracked armoured vehicles in my career, I can say that it gets ripped up and lodged into links, end connectors, etc....

IMO the problem with the grass is that it isn't lodged into those links, connectors, etc. It's just glued randomly on flat surfaces where there's nothing to hold it in place, and the leaves are standing up nice and straight. So rather than looking like grass that the tank tore up has accumulated in appropriate spots it looks like the tank has been left idle for a while and somehow grass has managed to grow on metal surfaces.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

There's a surprising amount of negativity about this mini and paintjob. I really like it, Zach, and I like the grass. The weathering on the red areas is great.

No worries, I think they are right. I went back and changed it later when I took a look at it because it looked odd on a fifth glance.

I think it would be a huge pitfall if people didnt criticize commission painters like every one else, I'm here to learn too.

Purely in that spirit... I think you have done a great job on a huge model. My only criticism would be that there are a couple of very visible brush stokes from where you have drybrushed the black and not wiped enough paint off the brush. Most of them blend into the texture reasonably well, but on the second picture on the front track section there is a biggun.

Again though, only pointed it out because you have encouraged cc, it's a lovely job
