Greetings fellow dakkanauts!

Through various ways I came to posess 3 Hellbrutes from the Dark Vengeance set. While I do like the models, having 3 exactly same eye-catcher-models does not seem all that appealing. The problem is aggravated by two facts - first, that I seem unable to find any tutorials on how to convert the things besides the obvious weapon swaps. And second - I have zero experience with modelling something out of greenstuff. I'm happy I can stuff it into cracks and crevices to fill gaps but that's about it.

Thus, I have two options: Leave the models basically "as is" and have 3 same-looking hellbrutes or try to convert a bit and risk messing the whole thing up, as sawing off the arms will most likely ruin the model if done badly. So, any idea what I should do?

You might want to try changing out the front; the head and surrounding "crest" are detachable IIRC and that would make more of a visual difference than just the arms. I'm sure I've seen someone do a conversion with a mauler fiend or blood letter head to give it a Minotaur style appearance.

If it's conversion ideas you want, check mine out:

I don't personally like the look of the original model and so changed it to be more towards the chaos dreadnought end of the spectrum.

I cover most of the techniques/methods I used for every change I made, but if there's something not clear feel free to ask.

Dude, that's one hell of a job there. Nicely done. That cockpit is scratchbuild, I see. Very nice, but also not exactly what I'd call an easy conversion... Looking into it right now though.

Ta. Yeah, overall the whole conversion was quite tricky. But bits of it are easier than they look, and some elements could be achieved (to varying degrees) in different methods.

Hopefully it'll give you some ideas at least.

The power scourge seems easy enough to pull of. It's also flamboyant enough to mitigate the fact, that the arm position remains unchanged.

Grab some crappy miniatures and practice.

I can't recommend Shadows of Brimstone highly enough, but that's another topic.

Yeah. The weapons can be as easy or complicated as you want. I went quite far with the scratch-building to make this a premium model to sell well. All together, with the painting, the whole thing took about 200 hours.

If you notice how it's standing I changed the angle that it is standing at by raising the other foot. So it's not leaning over as far as vanilla. Even though the pose is largely unchanged, it would set it apart from other Helbrutes.

Look for bits that could be easily chopped off with a jewler's saw and would be easy to hide the seam of when you reattach at a different angle?

I've seen a few helbrutes redone to be running, maybe that is a start?

Huh, I was pretty focussed on torso and arms. I will check how the legs are positioned tomorrow. If I could change one of these bad boys to "running", that would be ace. You don't have a photo of one of those conversions easily on hand?
