Okay so we have a worst gaming experience thread going, might as well have a good one!!
I mean I've only had one mini game so far as I'm still an utter noob to the game, but mine would have to be my Necron Overlord being last man standing against 2 squads of CSM and a Lord... Needless to say he died an honourable death taking as many of them with him as he could!!

Game in 3rd Ed. with Guard vs. Nids. We were playing the ambush set up with my Guard as the defenders being ambushed by the nids. Large chunk my force got slaughtered in the first Nid turn and then it turned into one of those games where it's how many of them could I take with me. Ended up being really fun with several suicidal charges to take out the big stuff, including a commissar taking off the last couple wounds from a Hive Tyrant with his power fist before being swamped by gaunts.

Mine was, unsurprisingly enough, against the same fella that had given me my worst experience: cue me being having had enough gak with that store and telling said donkey-cave I wanted a match with my CSM.
Cue in the face he made when I appeared with a barebones CAD (20 cultists and a sorcerer) and a maxed eldar force in two allied detachments (they didn't cap them in that store) and a whole wheel of cheese: I'm talking about 4 six-man scatpacks (two with warlocks), wraith-scythes, and an aspect hos with spiders, all led by 2 farseers.
He killed one model before I tabled him. XD

I've had a ton of positive experiences. It's easy to single out the bad ones, but harder for the good ones!
Overall best game would probably be one from back in 3rd edition, back when I only had Tyranids, and the Hive Tyrant looked like a rip off of the Alien Queen. We were 14 or so at the time, went to a friend's camp, and we were gaming all weekend. My buddy that got me into the game had his Orks, and the kitchen table was filled with boxes and toy blocks to be our terrain. Old One Eye was striding through, taking names and healing wounds, while Genestealers were fleeting coming around the sides and Hormagaunts were fleeting and charging with bounding leaps. I had a flying tyrant, but back then, this just meant it had a Jump Pack (and any difficult terrain caused an auto-wound on it!).
Well, the Orks were putting up a big fight, but the Tyranids were just as vicious. Looted wagons blasted out chunks of models, and those Bad Moonz were really laying down the dakka before waaaghing and charging in, but the Tyranids were chewing them up too fast. Towards the end, there wasn't much left, but my Hive Tyrant was still around, and had just killed his Warboss. It was the last turn, and he was just behind on points, and the rest of his models had struck and failed to kill the Tyrant. But he had 1 Squig left. We called him Squiggles, the Spider Squig. Mustering all the squig's strength, he made his single attack, hitting on a 4+. Then wounding on the 6 he needed. Then the Hive Tyrant rolled his 2+ save (Tyranids used to be able to get those), and failed with a much less than mighty "1". The Hive Tyrant was slain, and we called it a draw. All glory to Squiggles!

I played a tournament awhile back where I knew I stood very little chance because 3 eldar armies were in play, a couple of SM armies and some Tau players.....I play Orks.
Game 1 I managed to beat my Marine opponent by luring him into an objective and then swamping him in Bodies from some Battle Wagonz.
Game 2 I surprised my Tau opponent by utterly crushing his forces in an epic game that would have been my best game ever if not for Game 3.
Game 3 I was playing against the #1 points army. This would literally determine who won the tournament. He fielded a pair of Wraithknights with Scat Bike spam and some other crap that annoyed me.
Turn 1 I fired off my Big Mek armed with a Shokk Attack Gun at his Wraithknights and Scatbikes. DIRECT HIT, I nail a wraithknight and a unit of 5 Scat Bikes. On the damage chart I roll a 6 for the knight ( D6+6 wounds) BOOM! suddenly the game got a lot easier, the bikes got wiped out as well. On his turn the Vortex scatters onto his other knight and another partial unit of bikers, the Wraithknight takes 2 wounds and the 3 of his scat bikes are gone. In the space of 1 game turn from 1 unit I Managed to kill 1/3rd of his 1,500 point army, put 2 wounds on a 6 wound Jump GMC and the rest of my army succesfully wiped out a unit of 6 scat bikes.
Turn 2 my Big mek completed the Hat trick by teleporting himself into B2B with the Wraithknight (Died in the Assault phase) but my Army of Battlewagon boyz and Lootas successfully destroyed the remaining unit of Scat bikes, gained board controll and hunkered down
The rest of the game was basically the Eldar player running around trying to secure objectives while my lootas used them as target practice, the Wraithknight survived the rest of the game and was annoying but after turn 1 the game was in little doubt
Don't get me wrong, I talk a lot of crap against my own codex, but when the hilarity factor kicks off and the SAG Fires box cars all bets are off.
The absolute best part about this game was the Eldar players attitude. He was one of those WAAC guys who spent half the game trying to tell me how the SAG isn't legal and how it shouldn't be allowed and blah blah blah
I think he saw the ork army and thought "easy win"

Game in 3rd. Overnight long, Dark Angels, Blood Angels and other imperial stuff vs huge Chaos Marine Army (I used to play chaos then). No cheese, all fluffy armies from both sides, most stuff selected as a 0-1. BA still had the random Death Company! More than 6000 per side. We stole the victory in the last turn, but we had a very good start with a defiler pulverizing the BA Honour Guard. What a relief, I was scared sh*less of the BA Honor Guard back then (lol). Lots of honorable mentions in both sides, especially a very resilient DA termy, heroic BA scouts (the finest sharpshooters and infiltrators), berzerkers and unkillable plagues.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
Your army could suffer Post-Chapterhouse Stress Disorder (PCSD)! If you think that your army is suffering one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, call us at 789-666-1982 for a quick diagnosis! |

I have a lot, actually. Let me run down the list. All from different games.
•My Onager Dunecrawler is officially an hononable "broken OP" unit. It has killed a full-power Daemon Prince in close combat, instagibbed a cloaked Ghostkeel from the other side of the board with its Neutron Laser, took seven hull points off of a Lord of Skulls with three shots, and has generally made the world a better place.
•Two Wraithknights attacked my Stormsurge. It shot the ranged one to death, and locked the D-sword one in close combat for three turns, taking a wound off of it.
•Conversations in my store in general. We have covered... bizarre topics. Examples being Farsight secretly being Jar Jar Binks, and Benjamin Button's inevitable reverse-birth.
•One of my Sicarian Infiltrators berzeked across the board after his squad was killed and forced some tactical marines off an objective.
•My Callidus Assassin slaughtered a squad of fire warriors, ran down a bridge jumped four down stories, passed the jump check on a 6, charged an enemy Ghostkeel... and died horribly to Overwatch. It was hilarious when it happened.
•Whenever I come back from almost certain defeat and scrape together enough points to tie or win the game.
•Not best because it won me a game, but best for funniness. My Y'vahra got tank-shocked. I was sure that I could kill the tank on Death or Glory, becase, after all, it was a Y'vahra! Long story short, the tank ate it. The massive suit larger than the tank got ground under the tank's treads. Also, the amount of brrrrrrrrrrt in that game.

I did have a Space Marine Captain with a Chain fist deepstrike in my back line. I promptly charged him with just 2 or 3 Ork boyz. We actually got to swing first for once, causing 3 wounds, and wouldn't you know, he rolls 3 Ones right then and there.
Now we are not exactly competitive players with overly competitive lists, but it was a great and surprising outcome. Bonus points Being that he was a Crimson Fist.

Game in 3rd or 4th edition, dark angels vs tau. I stripped my squads down to 5 man units with lascannons, and had lots of bikes and mis silent devestators. I got to go first and killed almost his entire battlesuit army via instant death from the lascannons and missiles. The rest were tied up in combat with the ravenwing.
He conceded the game at the end of turn 1. The game took 10 minutes.
Good times... ah yes, good times.

I'd never played Tau before, but a friend just got into the game with some space marines and I had a commander, some firewarriors, and drones. We were playing casual doubles SM and AM vs Tau and KDK (500 pts). We lost, but damn those shield drones made loads of saves and a bloodthirster wrecked some imperial lines. It was pretty close until my commander died, but in maelstrom we didn't lose by that much.

First test-run of the current draft of my homemade Daemonhunters book. Mechanized 1,850 CAD versus a Decurion, Big Guns Never Tire. Lost 10-7 in the end but it was a close-fought and bloody game from the beginning. My Inquisitor Lord won the Warlord duel, and a pair of GK Strike squads accomplished more than any Strike squad has...possibly ever?

I've got lots of good memories playing the game but one particularly sweet moment came after a good ten or fifteen minutes of 'trash' talking by a CSM player (all the way back during 2nd Edition). I only used two five man combat squads of Marines back then and this chap had about fifty CSMs, about thirty to forty Khorne Berserkers with some regular CSM support, particularly a squad of havocs placed on a tower. He seemed to think highly of these havocs and went on at length how they would shortly destroy all of my Marines.
So, we rolled to see who would get first turn and I won the roll. My first action was to shoot a heavy plasma gun at the havocs which hit. I rolled for scatter and it was a hit, centred directly on the squad. Rolled for wounds and Blam! the whole squad destroyed instantly.
Needless to say, he didn't speak again for the rest of the game and his Berserkers painfully slogged their way across the board as I calmly mowed them down from cover.
Good times!

June 6th 2006. (666) I played a game against my local Tyranid player. I used my Ultramarines. 2000pts... if I remember correctly.
I won the toss up for first turn.
Fired my Devastators at some warriors on a hill in his deployment zone. Those missiles must have struck a weak point in the ground because for the rest of the game any unit he deployed from reserves that happened to touch that hill would roll 1's and 2's for difficult terrain tests.
When the battle was over and the dust settled... I had lost a total of 5 marines from various squads and a single assault cannon off a landspeeder. I tabled his army.
I contacted my opponent earlier this year to see if he wanted a rematch a decade later but our schedules didn't line up.

Finally beating my brother in an X-Wing game last week; a mix of academy pilots and low-level tie aces + a storm squadron tie advanced vs. Dutch (in Y-wing), another Y-Wing and a souped up E-Wing. I think it's the first time I've beat him in some twenty years.
I have discovered Accuracy correcter is da bomb on that Tie Advanced, especially when facing a Sensor Jammer.

Back in the 5-th. I was running footslogging boyz.
A squad of choppaboyz is slogging across the field for half the game getting shot hard. Than the remaining of the squad is charged by some melee eldar dudes with a warlord. They wipe everyone but the pk nob. Nob swings blindly, hits the warlord once. Wounds. He fails his 4++ and dies. Nob fails his ld and gets away. Proceeds running for the rest of the game. Eventually gets off the board.
Next game.

Probably my best gaming experience was what won me over to understanding that my Harlequins can be made into a competitive list. at first, I was of the opinion most people hold "yeah, they're trash, they lack tools to do XYZ, but they look cool" so I was just playing casually running Cegorach's Revenge fluffy mega-formation with some DE allies, and I came up against a fairly competitive Tyranid list.
2 flyrants, 2 mawlocks, and a moderate sized gribbleswarm+dakkafexes rolling up the middle. I thought to myself "meh, flyers, S6 weight of fire, and alpha strikes, my squishy clowns are gonna get rekt."
And then came turn 2. The flyrants run up out of synapse range to shoot up a starweaver and knock the troupe down to 2 models, leaving two zoanthropes holding the gribblemob (mostly minimum tervigaunt squads and dakkafexes) in synapse. Shooting phase comes, and the melta-troupe plus an Archon with the Archangel of Pain comes down dead center in the mob. Shadowseers Mirror of Minds/Laugh of Sorrows both zoeys to death. Between the archangel and Death Jesters, the entire mob of carnifexen and termagaunts are gone in a single glorious shooting phase, then both mawlocks who just deep struck in get charged by troupes and ID'd by Harlequin kisses.
Over 1200 points of models, gone in a single turn. That is why I play my clowns.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

40k wise... Playing orks in the Steel City Open tournament during 6th won $100 for being the most fun person to play against. Guess it was fun for my opponents to face orks then the Taudar everyone else was running at that time.

My best game recently I wasn't even playing my own army.
I was at my flgs looking for a pickup game and that night there was only one other person looking for a pickup.
He had Chaos, I had a very casual Ulthwe themed list with none of the traditional power units, but he refused to play because "all Eldar are OP" and anyone who plays them is just looking for an easy win (I have only ever played Eldar since I started near the beginning of fifth and I told him as much). Even after I said he could look at my list and make one specifically to counter it, because according to him any Eldar list could beat any Chaos list easily.
Eventually I suggested switching armies and he agreed because it looked like nobody else would show up. We just used the lists we had brought with us and I ended up winning by a fair margin. The look on his face after about turn 3 when he realised he was going to lose was great.
