For those who do not know, that is Clementine from the Walking Dead video game (well worth playing for those who haven't).
Pending they get the sign off from Telltale then Clementine and Lee will be convention exclusives for next year (if like previous convention models they will later be made available on the website in exchange for Mantic points)

Yeah, convention exclusives. Maybe they can have scenarios requiring them in some of the Wave 2 stuff for the KS, like they included scenarios requiring Retail Exclusives in Wave 1.

One of my FLGSs recieved this just in time for Black Friday. I picked up the retail starter, solo starter and the Morgan booster and they threw in the KS exclusive booster.
I like the models quite a bit. Yeah, the proportions are funky but it reminds me of a comic book and the details are nicer than most boardgames. The other components, with the exception of the threat "spinner", are very nice. I need to find a replacment for that or fix the spinner. Maybe a MTG countdown D20.
But the absolute surprise was the gameplay. It's fun! It plays fast, with minimal downtime, and was very easy to learn then teach. The walker activation is cool and leads to some neat moments. (One of the actions is making noise, which lures walkers in a straight line towards the noise maker, but the stop when they hit any survivor. You can really screw with your opponent without taking a single shot at them.)
We screwed up some rules, but not as many as usual when playing a new game. The rulebook is actually pretty clean compared to the drek that was Dungeon Saga.
I didn't back the KIckstarter after problems with DS and Deadzone. Kind of regret that now as AOW was really fun to play.

Glad to hear it,have only slightly perused the rules at the moment but it does look pretty simple to get into. Have managed to paint all of my retail set as well:

Has anyone heard whether Mantic plans on offering a separate pack of the equipment/supply cards for this game? I want to play this game with the many survivor and zombie miniatures I already own, so I'd rather not have to buy each expansion set or plunk down the money for the KS-edition while it lasts (though the extras in that are tempting).
EDIT: Also, I was able to buy the "Days Gone Bye" rulebook (with the character creation rules) by itself off eBay, so that is covered. :-)

There are working on a separate card deck for release next year, sounds like it will be a mix of old cards, unique cards and sneak peaks from future expansions. I am not certain if it will contain every single card or not though.
I received my copy this weekend (thanks to the really helpful guys at Mantic Customer Service) and decided to give painting a go for the first time in 20 years (that was a dreadful attempt at a Space Marine which put me of painting until now), decided with a monochrome theme to match the source material. I am not happy with the quality of my paint job (especially the vehicles) but can see some improvement as I went along, I started with the figures I am going to end up with 3 copies of (2 in KS starter and a Roamer booster I added to my KS pledge) so good ones to practice on.
(apologies for the poor image quality, have a long way to go in the art of miniature photography)

That looks pretty good to me Aeneades, especially given you have not painted anything in such a long time.
I am very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the game and have really enjoyed the few games I have managed to play.

Those look great, Aeneades. The black and white paint job is a clever idea and you've executed it well.
I just finished painting the 12 walkers from the core set and am pretty pleased with how they turned out.

Monochrome is good chrome!
Has that Night of the Living Dead b&w feel, although I remember the movie being "scratchier" with how it looked, like this cover:

Two more monochrome vehicles painted, although they still need a fine wash to blend in the decals on police car (cheap online decals which had a little colour bleed) and to dirty up the Woodbury army truck (although I may not dirty it up so much to show that it is still drive-able compared to the damaged cars). Wash will have to wait until later in week as still waiting for some medium to arrive.
Tonight I should be able to complete an empty swimming pool (sarissa precision) to catch walkers in (excluding wash which will have to come later).
Then I may try and be brave enough to try a human character.

I am torn with colour. Mostly because this is my first painting experience and it is so much easier to the figures look good (and hide mistakes) in monochrome compared to colour.

Nice looking vehicles, Aeneadas. The police car mod is simple but effective. What did you use for the lightbar?

The light bar is from the Mantic Mars Attack flat bed truck on the right. You can either set up the truck as a army vehicle or a recovery truck (depending on if you use the sides or machines gun / lights on top).
I have just finished constructing and painting the swimming pool from Sarrisa Precision Ltd's Retro range. I was a little heavy handed with the diving board and broke the tip of the less important end off but you can't really tell. I have a few other bits from Sarrisa Precision to construct, hopefully can get the play park and the static caravan completed this week. If these go well then may have to go back and pick up a few more items from them (the retro Motel and diner definitely have my attention).

Great paint jobs so far! I am getting more and more excited about this the more I read about how Mantic is developing this system. I appear to have missed the local offerings on the Kickstarter stuff but do you all think there will be second chance to grab the likes of Negan, Michonne and Abraham through future retail expansions?
Personally, my favourite character is the unhittable Jesus, or Paul Monroe as he is less commonly known as. I really appreciated the comparison to the Zombicide minis. I think those game boards and minis can complement this game set well.

They have already shown are future versions of Negan (seen one additional sculpt so far) and Michonne (seen a new sculpt with her two walker pets and one dressed in black with a machine gun). They will definitely have Abraham again within next 18 months.
It also appears that the KS exclusive sculpts will be made available on the Mantic store for Mantic points plus postage. They should be appearing before Clem and Lee do.

I appreciate the attention to detail and these answers so far. This is a really helpful thread. Merry Christmas to you all!
I am not to concerned about scale. Sometimes, when I am Zombiciding, I get confused between survivors and walkers. The slight scale difference to "Heroic" will make the characters a bit more pronounced.
Fingers crossed for a good Boxing Day or New Years sale so I can buy in at an even better price point!

I have played about four games. I ran a demo for some people yesterday at my local shop. The game mechanics can tell a pretty good story and can lead to some tense situations. I enjoy it. I think it could be even better with some form of true campaign system that allows survivors to advance and allow a group to maintain supplies, weapons, and such. I think it would make searching and getting supplies off the board a more meaningful experience. It could also allow for raid scenarios for when a groups resources get low. Say maybe develop a group of survivors using maybe 300 points or so. Then for each scenario, you can only use 120 to 130 points of that to play. Maybe have a scenario that can allow you to locate and add new survivors to your group by rescuing them.

It is surprisingly tense once you realise how far the walkers can move with shamble plus their kill zone and how small the play area is. Nice and simple game system though. Pretty much all the rules and the turn sequence are summarised on the back of the mini rulebook.
First game I've played where you manage to loot a really nice gun and extra ammo and are too afraid to use it.

Someone on BGG is working on a solo campaign variant with resource management. No survivor XP yet, afaik.

Quick opinion please.
I had been painting Walkers in monochrome to match the look of the comics (and as a completely new painter I thought it would be easier). As I have also picked up quite a chunk of Batman models I have been considering making a joint Walking Dead & Batman board but the trouble with that is the monochrome figures would look very out of place with full colour buildings. So, I have started to paint up some Walkers in colour as a test. These are the first colour miniatures I have painted and whilst I made some silly mistakes I am generally happy with the results. However, I wanted a second opinion on whether I should stick with the monochrome or switch across to colour?
I have 21 monochrome models painted up so far along with a chunk of the tokens, scenery and vehicles but I don't mind stripping and repainting if colour wins.
Thanks

Thank you. I feel confident painting zombies now but not sure I can quite get a clean enough look for survivors yet but will practice and strip the models if necessary.
All paints are army painter. The middle three have a skin tone of 50% Barbarian flesh and 50% Uniform grey with quite a dark wash over them afterwards. The far left and far right models have a skin tone of 40% Elven Flesh, 40% Uniform Grey and 20% Electric Blue, I was going for a blue tint but they ended up being a slightly darker grey than the first batch instead.
In other news Mantic are having a Walking Dead week next where where they will officially be unveiling the RV terrain piece, the convention exclusive models (hopefully available from mantic point store as well), the plastic rulers / blast markers and the limited edition resin diorama along with previews of other future releases (some we may not be aware of).
