Subject: Could I get some help / maybe even a recipe or tutorial on how to replicate this paint job? DKoK
Just bought 200 DKoK Infantry including heavy weapons, and special weapons. I have an idea of what I want the infantry to look like... Could you give me the colors to use and maybe a mini guide on how to achieve this look?
My second question is my tank schemes.... Will the following example match my infantry, or should I got for a grey/black camo scheme instead? I could really use the help, thanks in advance!

The black armour is likely black with silver streaked on. Kind of like drybrushing, but heavier paint with a frayed brush.
The leather maybe snakebite leather [lightish brown] with an Agrax Earthshade [dark brown] wash.
The gold is likely gold with Reikland Fleshshade wash [light reddish brown]. You can see a brownish tint around the buttons on the greatcoat.
Grey is likely grey, washed with black, followed by grey and maybe a highlight / drybrush over top. You can see where the black has pooled in the folds of the coat, and how some of the ridges are a lighter colour. May have just been washed carefully in the folds, which would save needing to freshen up the grey.
The lasgun metal is likely bolt gun [medium dark silver] with a black wash.
The lower leg wraps are probably bleached bone with a medium or dark brown wash over top.
The whole thing may have been "dusted" with a pale brown to make it look dirty.
The base looks like Bestial Brown [medium brown] on the plastic, with sand / gravel glued on top of the brown, then washed directly onto the gravel with Agrax Earthshade. That's how I do my bases, but I add some clumps of static grass [wasteland look].

This is super helpful! Maybe it's my eyes, but does the greatcoat look like a blue-ish gray color? If so, do you think you could help me color match it?
Also, how would the uniform look with the tank scheme that's attached? Could you maybe suggest a better tank color scheme to me? Something that looks Death Korp of Krieg-ish?
Thank you!

Not too great at mixing paint... If you were to choose a color, what would you choose? Maybe army painter even has a colored primer that would get me close?
Also, does the krieg soldiers uniform go with that tank scheme?

So these are some DKOK I painted a couple years back. The Outside of the coat is shadow grey with a black wash and the inside is light grey washed black.
The blue looks fine but it doesnt look as grey as your example

That's a good suggestion, but there's two things I'm facing :
1.) I don't want to be completely historical, just inspired from
2.) I like working with GW paint
Why is no one giving input on the tank scheme I put above?
The colour you want for your DKOK robes is German grey; it's the perfect match.
I quite literally just painted a diorama using the paint scheme you posted (excuse the bad photo).
As for the tank scheme, it is really entirely up to you. If it was me, I would just be painting the entire tank using the german grey colour, but if you wanted to include a camo scheme I would personally would use greys/blacks rather than the sand colour.

I'm going to use a darker gray with the blue on the tank, would that work?
Also I love that diorama! Who makes that German gray paint? Also do you think my scheme I pictured above matches death korp of krieg well?

That was Woodland Scenics Soft Flake Snow mixed with Secret Weapon Realistic Water. Mix them in to a thick paste and then apply them to the model with a sculpting tool or similar.
It's hard to convey how snow looks in pictures, but I posted a review of GW's Valhallan Blizzard recently where I took some close ups that you can zoom in and see the different effects. Some look better close up, others look better from a distance.
I think the Soft Flake Snow is a bit out of scale for a 28mm model so if you look at it close up it looks a bit chunky, but from a foot or more away it looks good.

Thank you! I actually like the GW valhallan snow! So you just mix it with Secret Weapons realistic water? To what ratio? Then just glue it on, with PVC glue?

How much you'll need kind of depends how heavily you apply it. If you apply it like I do, I imagine 2 or 3 bottles should be good for 200 x 25mm bases. It's hard to say though because if you apply it a little bit thicker or with more coverage you'll probably need more bottles.

Great to know, and judging by your photos, it doesn't just sit flat like paint, it poofs out, and looks like snow?
Wow, what a time we live in, to be modeling / painting!

Darker grey and blue could work definitely. The issue I have with the tan colour is the combination of a cool and warm colour, it creates odd contrast.
I used Vallejo Model Colour German Grey for my DKOK.
I wouldn't have painted a diorama in the scheme if I didn't think it suited DKOK. I think its a fine colour palette .

I also went with a Fieldgray color scheme but there is a tutorial on YouTube that is VERY close to what you posted. Not sure if you want to invest that crazy amount of time into all those models though...

Thanks for this!
After a nuln oil wash, did you just highlight with the same color gray?
Does the Vallejo German gray color go well with GW washes and paints? Can you paint with Vallejo right out of the bottle? No thinning required?

The fatigues were painted with a process similar to below (probably more layers knowing me):
1. Basecoat German Grey,
2. Wash Nuln Oil,
3. Relayer 50/50 mix German Grey, and Black
4. Highlight German Grey
5. Final highlight 50/50 mix German Grey and Codex Grey.
Vallejo paints interact fine with GW paints. You will still need to thin paints, you should always thin paints irrespective of the brand (although the degree to which you thin each paint will vary).
