I thought Predators was the reboot. Frazzled confused.

But from the same pages as Reddy's Starship Troopers:
unn will play a scientist opposite Holbrook's Special Forces commando.

Olivia Munn is in negotiations to join Boyd Holbrook in The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox's reboot of the alien action-movie series that Shane Black is directing.

Holbrook is starring in the movie, which was co-written by Black and Fred Dekker.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but this much is known: The story plunks the alien hunter — whom audiences have seen fight in jungles, concrete jungles, frozen wastelands and alien planets — in the harsh environment of … suburbia.

Munn will play a scientist opposite Holbrook’s Special Forces commando.

A February start date is being targeted.

Munn is coming off a role in Fox's summer X-Men franchise outing, X-Men: Apocalypse, in which she played the mutant Psylocke. She will next be seen in DreamWorks' ensemble comedy Office Christmas Party.

She is repped by CAA and Atlas Artists.

Eh, if it's a sequel, fine. No one should dare try to remake the first, it's a classic

For a moment there I thought it was going to Kindergarten or a school.

... and then I realised I'd totally watch "Kindergarten Predator" -- I'll grant you that particular title might be open to misinterpretation and might need a bit of work.

... and then I started thinking about Olivia Munn in general and lost my entire trail of

Just imagine how much better this movie would be if Olivia Munn was playing Psylocke in a Predator Movie.

Predators was technically a sequel with a lot of plot nods and winks, wasn't it? I thought they made a quick reference to Dutch and his group.

We've already seen Predators in suburbia. It was not good. I'll be keeping an eye on this, I guess, but I'm not super-excited. Who's he supposed to be hunting?

Wiener dogs of course, nature's most perfect killing machine.

The Predators won't stand a chance.

i'm afraid the predators stock has fallen as the keep on loosing to arnie (and more ordinary people)

hard to maintain that cool super hunter vibe when that keeps happening

My only good point about this us that Black is directing. Whilst he didnt get writing credits on the original he was involved in shaping it so.
Fingers crossed but jesus Pedator 1 is by far one of my favs of all time.

Predators was enjoyable, but the idea of bringing it back to current time Earth seems like a step back IMO.

Barring the AvP movies, I feel Predator movies are all fine.
They are Slasher movies where there are more than one villain, which gives them the advantage of they can keep making movies and have new ideas and new chracters. There are not central characters like in Nightmare on Elm street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser or Children of the Corn.
Honestly, I hate the constant remake of hollywood, but I think Predator franchise is one that can be just made, with not need to connect to the original.
So im fine.

Predators was a sequel, not a remake/reboot. It references the first film. I enjoyed it.

We've seen a Predator in suburbia in AvP2, which was terrible.

I'm hopeful this will be good...

I actually thought the first AvP was okay, but not great. I've not seen the second one, or Predators. The first two were amazing movies, some of my favorite movies of all time (along with Aliens).

As long as this movie doesn't do to the Predator franchise what Prometheus did to the Alien franchise, it should be okay.

I really enjoyed Predators. I'm sad they aren't continuing that story . And I hate the idea of suburbia. There are places on this planet that are inhabited by very dangerous people but the burbs isn't generally that place.....

I guess they could do something with a Predator hunting a serial killer, but

Spoiler:
Predators kinda got there first.

Or maybe going after a retired Special Forces type? I dunno. Still seems like a bad environment for this.

There's no need to make it a reboot. Predators have been coming to Earth for a long time and they will probably continue to come for a long time. Unless you want to specifically retell the original story, just make it another one of many encounters humans have with them.

Excellent point. This smells like a flimsy no-risks "Genisys"-type reboot. Predators was (mostly) excellent. One reason was, the audience was not expected to start from square one. To wit, the protagonists were genre-savvy (e.g., Adrien Brody figured out immediately that they were on an alien planet being hunted by aliens). Another reason was, the premise actually upped the ante by taking it to another planet and introducing predator factions.

This sort of happened in one of the novels. It was a pretty good read, btw.

Indeed. People seem to love Predator 2 but I can't fathom Danny Glover being a serious threat to a Predator. That just kills the film for me. Well, that and Busey...

Predator is fantastic, and I really enjoyed Predators. AvP was decent imho. I just try to forget Predator 2 and AvP 2 exist.
