I'm currently working out a tournament list using a war convo and have already included an aegis in my final list.

It just occured to me that because the aegis is in the formation slot of the cult mechanicus battle congregation part of the war convo the rules of the war convo apply to it. This means that 'all weapons and wargear upgrades are free'.

Does this mean i can take a free Quad gun as it's a weapon upgrade to the aegis?

I feel i'm stretching it a bit but could this also apply to the other options for the aegis eg. buying sections of tanglewire or barricades?
It's no big deal but if i can get free tanglewire to put infront of the aegis sections it'd be nice!

The free upgrades only applies to units in the formation. As far as I can tell, Aegis Defence Lines are not units.

The War convocation it's composed of 3x lesser Formations/detachment wich at least 2x of those can buy fortifications per se (skitarii and mechanicum) so yes fortifications are part of the formation.

If i'm not wrong there is some answer about in the FAQ, will provide link after finding it.

A: The only Fortifications that benefit from the Adeptus Maechanicus War Convocation's rules are those taken as part of the Cult Mechanicus Battle Congregation. The Might of the Adeptus Mechanicus rule allows you free weapon and wargear options, which in most cases will not benefit Fortifications - they have access to Fortification Upgrades, which are neither weapons nor wargear (this includes gun emplacements). The exceptions to the rule are weapon options on a Fortification's datasheet - for example on the Wall of Martyr's Firestorm Redoubt or Vengeance Weapon Battery. These Fortifications could replace their emplaced weapons for free.

Interestingly the weapons profiles are listed under optional upgrades on the aegis's entry so i would say that counts and is free?

The WarConvo allows units to take upgrades for free so those fortification options can be taken for free.

How much of what you listed are Fortification upgrades, not wargear upgrades? You might want to refer to the FAQ question/answer transcribed 2 posts above yours.

Yes, it would be nice, but not for the reason you think. Without the FAQ, you don't get the free weapon upgrades. As you noted, all units get the free upgrades, but fortifications aren't classified as units.

At least not while doing purchasing. They become units when the game begins, but not before. And it's not like you can purchase upgrades before then.
