TSons are supposed to shrug off small arms fire like it's nothing, but die to anti-tank fire. The current rules are just not that.

So, I propose that instead of an Aura of Dark Glory (with the MoT, giving them a 4++) they have MoT (for a 6++) and may reroll all failed armor saves. That way, they're 3 times as durable to small arms fire, but much less durable to anti-tank fire.

Definitely reflects the fluff better, but they'd need to have a higher cost since their armor is now significantly better versus the overwhelming majority of weapons they're likely to encounter.

I disagree, because they're already overcosted for what they bring to the table.

Arnt they about to get a big update? Why not see what happens?

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

People like making rules? Besides they might not actually get new rules.

All fair. I enjoy it too. Just wanted to note that they seem to be next up for some new rules.

Eh. I had the idea, figured I'd post it.

Besides which, with GW's less than stellar track record when it comes to rules...

Immune to S4 and less was a pretty good rule for them. Gives heavy bolters a nice again. Doesn't help vs Tau or Eldar at all, though.

Immune to S4 or less would be overpowered. That's effectively T8 against most armies. I want them resistant to small arms fire, not immune.

Swap these two rules.
Daemon of Tzeentch becomes +1 inv save.
Mark of Tzeentch becomes reroll failed saves.

Voila.

No thanks-that's a little TOO powerful.

Actually, that makes Thousand Sons less durable than your opening proposal. Your proposal was to reroll all armor saves. The DoTzeentch rule only allows them to reroll saves of 1, so 2s would still kill them outright. Slaanesh_Devotee's suggestion would also mean that, while 2+ invuls would be relatively common among Tzeentch daemons, they also wouldn't be rerollable. It's not a bad switcheroo at all.

I like a lot of the proposed rules in this thread. Also featuring on my personal Thousand Sons wishlist...

* No more mandatory Tzeentch table for aspiring sorcerers. Let them take powers from the generic book tables if they like. This is fluffy, makes the unit more flexible, and lets us avoid the boon of mutation power that is actively unfluffy for a Thousand Sons psyker.

* Inferno bolts are no longer standard. Instead, let the unit choose to purchase various "arcane ammo" options such as inferno bolts, cover ignoring bolts, maybe skyfire or twin-linked bolts, etc.

* Talismans, a piece of wargear that lets you gain an additional psychic power but does not raise your mastery level.

*Some piece of wargear or rule that prevents them from dying to Perils. They've been casting spells for 10 millenia. Today should not just happen to be the day they lose their cool.

*Special weapons for the unit. Meltaguns, flamers, etc. If you can point and shoot a bolter, you can point and shoot a meltagun.

*"Teleportation Spell" piece of wargear that lets the unit deepstrike.

*Dustnaughts, rubricae dreadnaughts with more hull points than the average bear and IWND.

*Dread Mage, psychic dreadnaughts.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

They didn't say reroll ones-they said reroll ALL saves. Bit of a difference.

I'm not sure. They'd be immune to grav as well, which would be good for the meta. I can pack enough S5+ in a BA list to deal that, so most lists can I think.

How would they be immune to Grav? It does nothing based off Toughness or Strength.
