Just wondering where I'm meant to find the most up to date rules for this flyer. The page for it says Imperial Armour Aeronautica however that's currently out of print last time I checked, as is the apocalypse book some of the other flyers like the Thunderbolt had pointed to.
Anyone have any ideas?

The Avenger is also in Imperial Armour 2, second ediion, however, I don't know if it is up to date.

this will get you part of the way. Otherwise Aeronautica and IA1v2 (NOT Imperial Armour 2) are identical for the Avenger's profile.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement. |

It isn't in IA1 or IA2, unfortunately. Technically the Aeronautica printing is the most current one if you want to use it in a Sisters or normal Guard army; the only in-print Imperial Armour book with the profile is IA3 v.2, but that's got it as a Heavy Support choice in the Elysian list rather than a datasheet specifying it can be used with the Guard/Sisters Codexes.
(Most of Aeronautica has been overwritten, I think it's still the most current source for the Firestorm, Raven (on the off chance anyone's left who hasn't blotted it out as a traumatic memory), most of the Navy flyers, and most of the Ork flyers and ground-based AA)
CORRECTION:
It is in IA1v2 as a Heavy Support choice in the Armoured Company list, actually, I was looking at the index. It still hasn't actually changed since release.
(Anyone who wants to use it in a normal Guard/Sisters army list tell your opponent that the profile is identical to an Aeronautica dataslate that specifies it may be taken as a Heavy Support choice in a Guard/Sisters army, and you've got the word of lots of people with the book on the Internet to back it)

Thanks for the help everyone.
Never realised how confusing this Imperial Armour stuff could be for updates before.
I guess it may also be a good idea to put it off getting the rules as it could mean they're bringing out an updated book somewhat soon?

As it's out of print and _mostly_ overwritten you can spring for Aeronautica second hand and you'll probably get value for money.
What army are you considering getting an avenger for?

Militarum Tempestus, reading up on it they allowed it as well. Certainly can't expect much if I were to go to a tournament or something.

It does usually take a long time for Forge World stuff to get updated (the oldest stuff in the game right now is Ork content in Imperial Armour 8, which was released in 5e). I'd say to go for a secondhand copy of Aeronautica nowish since we're fairly certain the Navy isn't going to feature in the next book (Tau v. Red Scorpions/Mechanicum) and IA15 could be a long wait. Strictest possible reading if you go to a tournament the only people who are allowed the Avenger are Elysians, Imperial Guard Armoured Company, and Sisters of Battle since "Codex: Imperial Guard" doesn't exist right now.
For practical purposes you'd probably be better off buying IA3 and playing Elysians than playing enough MT you can't fit a detachment that's allowed Avengers in your army anyway.

The Avenger Strike fighter stats are also published in IA12 (currently in-print) as part of the DKoK Assault Brigade. IA12 was published in 2013, making it more recent than IA1:2nd and Aeronautica (according to wiki). There is also a miss print (?) in IA12 giving the Avenger 3 rather than 2 HP. It's a toss up whether IA3:2nd is newer than IA12 given they were both published in 2013 (again, according to wiki).
This assumes you are playing Krieg.

Which itself can be discarded if Death From The Skies applies to said tournament, as the forgeworld update classifies it as 'armies of the imperium', and you'd be taking it in a flyer wing anyway.

It could happen, true. I haven't yet played a game using Death from the Skies or seen a tournament allowing it, but if your playgroup does you're okay.
