Are there any? I was looking at Firestorm and Wayland and both refuse to ship to the US per GWs terms and conditions (must have missed a memo on that one, didn't realize it was verboten), curious if theres any sources out there for sweet sweet favorable exchange rate goods.

GW puts it in their contracts that they can't sell overseas which is why those down under get so royally screwed over, they could save themselves nearly half the cost if they could order from the UK.

Yeah, I'm aware, but here in the US at least there are (or were) several GW retailers that don't deal directly with GW, so aren't bound by GWs T&C, etc. Theres also always the "backdoor dealers", yknow the guys that have the hookup through their friend and sell stuff on the side.

If not, I'm sure I can find someone willing to do a bit of shopping on my behalf and mail me back a care package

You'll get crucified by the shipping.

It's a little more reasonable UK->US than vice versa, but even then, transAtlantic postage is about the most expensive international shipping around right now, and all the couriers (which is the only way to get half way same rates) refuse "gift" as an option, meaning you'll almost certainly get caught in duties too.

The £/$ exchange may be favouring the US right now, but it'll be tough to make the numbers work with the silly shipping costs.

Ah, but fortunately for us in the US, there is no duty on imports... (at least not until you get to the silly levels), and we often get VAT removed, and do not have to pay sales tax, AND often get free shipping when buying above X.

I was referring to that.

No ordinary bloke is going to have access to free shipping, and nobody offering it will ship GW to the US. That you don't get hit for duty is something, but the prices are still pretty ludicrous for shipping.

For instance (and this is from a discount comparison broker, the prices for going direct to a courier are often way higher) a 12x8x6" 5lb parcel is $40 from a no-name shipping company at today's exchange rate, and from someone recognisable like UPS its closer to $60.

Finding a retailer big enough to be able to offer free shipping that's willing to break their terms to fulfil the order is going to be tough. Getting a willling individual to send you stuff they've bought off the shelf is going to be trick you to come out ahead on enough to warrant the effort.

Best of luck though.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Post up some examples of UK retailers that ship to the US and see how quickly they suddenly find themselves unable to do so.

Come on people this is a public forum!

Do you think GW doesn't watch these types of places?

Your best bet is probably to hit ebay.co.uk and look for new stuff

you're unlikely to get a break on the shipping (or VAT removal) but you should be able to find stuff around the 20% off that's pretty much the maximum most UK stores will discount (epscially new releases)

whether that makes it cheaper than US sellers?

GW forbids selling out of region, or selling to people who sell out of region, so you're unlikely to get anyone who'll officially do it. You may be able to contact some smaller places directly but they won't know if you're trying to catch them out or not.

As above, if you can find it on eBay, 2nd hand, you can probably get it shipped. But I'm not sure if it'll make much sense, as you're unlikely to get within the 20% discount + free shipping from the US.

It's different if you were in Aus/NZ as their wholesale rate is higher than the UK RRP, so it's still cheaper to buy at retail and ship.

I dunno, take a start collecting box, $85, $68 after a 20% discount, or...$50 + shipping from the UK. Considering Im looking at placing a $500+ order (up to 7 start collecting boxes + 4 of the new premium boxes), I feel like the shipping will work out to only being a small inconvenience at worst.

I'd just order from Doc's discount game store in Ohio and save n time and shipping.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

You do realize there are tons of discount sellers here that are going to be way easier to do business with and will be cheaper than dealing with VAT and shipping shenanigans right? Heck, most places do 20% off and offer free shipping if you're willing to look around a bit.

Sure they don't, which is why one local store that discounted heavily suddenly doesn't now (and says that GW told them to stop), and why other non-Oz based stores have said not to broadcast what they can or cannot do.

But no, go ahead, tell us of the great store that ships internationally at a discount. See how quickly their trade account vanishes.
