Had a discussion with some mates over the weekend when a Hemlock Wraithfighter dropped in to say hello. He had units all around him. A question was asked about what the firing arc of its psychic powers were since its a vehicle?

Rule flow from BRB book. I have a psychic pilot vehicle. Definition on page 170. -

Ala the psychic phase. For the purposes of all rules the term psyker means , psyker unit, psyker pilot, and brotherhood special rules. Skipping generation of warp charges we get to sequencing of the phase, and finally "declaring a target".which is defined as -

Now. This is where it get's a bit interesting. On page 14 you find the definition of line of sight in regards to non vehicle models. On page 74, line of sight of hull mounted weapons for vehicles. Both of which do not directly answer how you determine line of sight of psychic powers from psychic pilot vehicles.

How is this resolved?

Can a Hemlock (or any other psychic vehicle) cast a targeted psychic power from any point on it's hull? Or is it limited to some determined fire arc (for example, 180 degrees frontwards)?

It's exactly the same issue as with walkers trying to charge. You can only charge unit in your LoS, but you don't have any clearly defined LoS for vehicles outside of when shooting with a weapon.

There is no good answer in the rulebook, just use your common sense.

LOS is a rule independent of mode-type.

LOS is any part of a model to any part of another model.

What you are both referencing is the special rules of Vehicle Weapon LOS: which only matters for vehicle weapons; outside of the use of a weapon(pretty much Shooting phase only), Vehicles follow the Core LOS rules

I think Kommissar Kel has it right - the rules on page 14 don't define themselves as for "non-vehicle" models, but simply as the basic LoS rules. Kel is saying (and please correct me if I'm understanding you wrong) that the limitation for vehicles LoS is specifically under the heading "Vehicle Weapons & Line of Sight", and would not apply during the psychic phase.

The tricky part might then be defining "body" (head, torso, arms or legs) - walkers won't have a problem, but the Wraithfighter would need to use the pilot model itself I suppose?

By drawing LOS from any portion of the Body(read Hull) of the Model to any portion of the Body of the Target model.

You are casting a Psychic power, not Firing a weapon; Vehicle Weapon LOS does not come into play.
