I consider Eldars a bunch of sickly snobs, with immensely high tech etc, but never understood why such people with million years of tech would have such filthy motors like I see on Falcons, I had imagined them having more elegant motor exhaust like that of The Millennium Falcon.

It's because all the Eldar giving a damn about the environment became Exodites and started to ride dinos

Putting on a mockney accent 'filthy motors'.

OT I imagine that the GW design studio didn't consider how filthy their Eldar motors were when they first came up with the falcon.

I imagine that in hard times the Eldar have had to resort to cheaper more mass produced war machines. In a perfect galaxy, I am sure they would have complete environmentally sound gear.

...How do you know they don't have elegant Milennium-Falcon-esque thrusters? Point me at a single piece of artwork that shows anything coming out of the exhausts on any of their engines.

For the same reason that despite their higher technology, the Adeptus Astartes and Adeptus Mechanicus roll around in grimy, nasty vehicles. And why you hardly ever see the Imperial Guard nice and shiny, parade ground style.

Because, GRIMDARK. That's why.

There is stuff coming out of the engines in the art on the hemlock wraithfighter page of the eldar codex, but it doesn't seem to be very dirty emissions.

Maybe it just looks primitive because that's how our monkey-brains can comprehend it.

For all we know it emits microscopic icecream and rainbows and we just see it as a conventional thruster.

Most of Eldar Vehicles shows a blue (ionic? ) stream coming out of the thruster engines, and no smoke at all ....

If it's Falcons, it's probably just all the dust that's gathered while they've been sitting neglected in the Craftworld motorpool alongside the Nightspinners and Vypers.

Eldar vehicles don't have exhausts, just thrusters.

Maybe the Eldar just don't pay their janitors very well?

now that i think of it, here is a Fact: tyranids are the cleanliest faction. they are not sinister all devouring bugs, they're just very, very tidy

You probably never had to clean up Nid droppings before...... it gets EVERYWHERE.

Also Nids have those spore chimney things on the backs of some of the bigger bugs. Definitely not green, very bad for the environment.

As to Eldar emissions, I don't believe they are in compliance with emission standards and clearly need to be fined.... and by fined I mean virus bombed

Um, well, that's a paint job, not part of the model.

So if you want sparkling-clean motors worthy of an elegant and ancient race... just paint it to be shiny metal instead of dirty.

I know I don't paint anything metallic on my Eldar at all. We use psychoplastics and (technobabble-technobabble) reactors, not metal and hydrocarbons.

Then paint it a matte black or white or something to represent a high-tech material that's non-reflective.

The point is, if you don't want your tech to be grimy, don't paint it that way.

IDK, I always feel dirty after playing against a scatterbike army. Leads me to believe there is something going on over there...
