Subject: Corax and Mor Deythan tactics

Recently got some Mor Deythan and Corax and I'm wanting to field them along with several other tacticals. I am currently thinking of keeping the Deythan in the back and picking off characters while tacticals shoot up anything. Decapitation Strike is the RoW I'm going to run so only one heavy support, probably a graviton cannon to deal with vehicles. For Corax, I'll keep him close to the enemy (therefore denying the shadowed lord rule), but I'll be able to vector strike over an enemy and shoot with one pistol, then charge with my talons. Feel free to comment on what I should/could add to make it an all around strike force to have all ends covered. Thanks!

I will disagree with you. Mor Deythan really shine when you give them Combi-Flamers and get them RIGHT up to the enemy in the first turn. Sticking them in a Darkwing or Drop Pod helps, and their precision strike (I think thats what its called) that gives them rending, combined with the flamer templates basically mean you can get rrid of one unit if your choice, first turn. Avoid trying to take down Terminators with them, as they will survive and hit back. Support squads, destroyers, legion specific Power Armour squads and single charachters are good choices. Hope this helped.

There is a few ways you can use them. As a suicide squad 6 Mor deythan with Combi flamers and 2 x flamers in a Rhino. Infiltrate, scout, move 6 inches, jump out and flame a unit. Use their ability to give them twin linked and rending for a turn and you are guaranteed to wipe out a squad.
10 Mor Deythan, 7 Combi weapons (I was going to go with a mix of flamer/plasma) and 3 x plasma in a storm eagle would be pretty good to. Fly the storm eagle around until you find a spot to drop them off in cover on an objective maybe, they will hold that fairly well against most things.
YMMV though, I suggest trying a few things and seeing how you go. I have to say though, I don't know if a Mor Deythan squad can take a drop pod even with decap strike can they.
As for Corax, I plan to run him (once I paint him) with a 10 man squad of Dark Fury's (probably not joined, just nearby). If you are running him then hit and run is the key in my opinion. I would avoid primarch vs primarch as you will probably lose unless you can use some hit and run shenanigans to get out and charge again. Concussive is the killer of corax though and Horus, Ferrus Manus, Vulkan and a few other primarches all have it. I would use corax to take out other elite squads and focus the enemy primarch with high str shooting.
Thats just my thoughts though.

But there us also vector strike and the thing that gives you either d3 extra attacks and come other stuff too, which IMO, would be good for killing weaker primarchs like Lorgar and Perturabo.

.... uh what??
Lorgar is one of the most powerful primarchs, RR all saves psychic power that he can always choose, and peturabo can easily shoot you to bits, then punch you in CC, if your close enough to do Corax vector strike, your close enough to be charged, seriously, stay away from ... well any primarch, corax just cannot take them on alone normally.

Corax only has a 5++. That is his downfall.
Lorgar with his rerollable 4++ is all kinds of superior.

I just assumed that they were inferior lol. Anyways, I will probably give the Mor Deythan squads snipers or Combi flamers, Dark Fries will stay with Raven talons and tactical squad sgt. With lighting claws. I will probably also add some contemptors for extra killing fun!

Lorgar Transfigured is decent, but base he is weak. Corax is one of the more powerful primarchs, due to his Snap Shot only rule.

Mathematically Corax doesn't stand up to anyone except Alpharius, Dorn and unchaosified Lorgar. Any primarch with a concussive attack can shut down Corax easily.
Then again you shouldn't really be fighting primarchs with other primarchs in the first place.

Exactly. Corax is great when fighting other units, but against Primarchs and souped-up Praetors he dies quickly.

I would imagine that he is perfect for tearing up 5-10 man squads with his fighting style.

Yeah he also has concussive, blind and I believe strikedown if you're rocking Forgebreaker.
Corax is great for killing anything but CC characters. He should be going after elite infantry, bikes etc.
