I think it's scourge privateers they have been featuring a lot in the lore lately the city of secrets and the new warhammer quest. Thinking about it they have enough units to receive the "sylvaneth treatment" they are also clearly styled to be Cthulhu/deep one themed also an extract from city of secrets.

Gonna spoiler tag it just in case people haven't read the book.

Spoiler:
"Something" muttered Toll. "Something I'd hoped avoid using."

He withdrew a small oval object. It looked almost viscous in his hands, glimmering dully in the soft lighth of the glow-oil lamps. As callis watched, the witch hunter gently caressed the edge of the object, and it quivered organically."

What in sigmar's name is that thing? Said Callis, his stomach squirming in disgust.

"This," replied toll, "is a kraken's eye. It's also a method of direct communication to the one of the most dangerous people in the city. And if I use it, I'll be in that person's debt. Which, historically, has never been a good place to be."

"Worse that being tortured to death by a mad cult leader in his underground dungeon?"

"Potentially. Now quiet. And stand back."

Toll muttered a word. At least, Callis assumed it was a world, a glottal mumur that sounded like the death rattle of some aquatic monster. Instantly, the organ in the witch hunter's hand contracted and pulsed. Black ink poured from the eye, coalescing into a vaguely oval shape, the size of a full length mirror. Shapes writhed and moved in the depths of the darkness.

"Zenth," the witch hunter repeated. I'm calling in my favour. Now answer me, damn you."

The ink swirled and reshaped, and now a humanoid outline was visible within the mass. Slowly the rippling surface calmed, and the outline came into a sharper focus.

Of course I could be totally wrong but the last two rumor images I think fit the theme of scourge privateers also there must be some secret to their success a pact with Malerion or something like that.

Also war of sigmar post on it.

I asked my local tentacle expert. I'm pretty sure it's a coiled tentacle, and not a shell. I must agree.

I only hope all this pirate and sky stuff means there'll be some more Swifthawk stuff. They did the whole flying seamen thing first, even if GW made a huge mess with the pricing and availability. They really should stick around. Not expanding them would be a bit premature. Maybe a a few giant swallows for the flying seamen to ride. It might be a stetch to fit them inside a force of seamen, but whatever, just takes a bit of elbow grease.

I'll stop now.

But I actually do like the Skycutter, just not the GW Direct price, so I never bought one for my tiny IoB HElves force. Battletome Swifthawk Agents sounds pretty cool, too, and wouls make a nice adversary for creepy deep sea elves, goblin pirates AND flying dwarfs.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

As for HE.... they need some sort of airship or sea vessel that is like an aircraft carrier.

So a giant eagle, or sea dragon, that carries hawks and riders on it back.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

See, Magical-Steampunk Corporate Skyprivateer Dwarfs, Spongebob Cthulu Elves, (hopefully)Spider-Gobbo Ramshackle Skypirates - where was all this before? Nearly two years of Land Marines, Slightly Bigger Orcs, and More Khorne Because It's Always Khorne seems like such a wasted opportunity if they had all this mental stuff in their back pocket.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

I don't think the Sky Grots are going to be spiders, if only because silvertowers spider gobbo's are because of Tzeentch and crazy Silver Tower magic.

Well, maybe they focused on a faction similiar to Space Marines, they thought would sell well and the ever present arch enemy of everything, Chaos, to introduce a new system and recover from dwindling WHFB sales, while going into full brainstorming/production mode for new factions for the next two years and we're now seeing the results of this?
