Well M'shen didnt beat Curze. Curze let himself die. Thats not the same as a fight.
Also Luther was super boosted by the Chaos Gods to Primarch levels.

Well that may not be true, it is still uncertain whether or not the angels on Caliban were traitors or whether they thought that the Lion had turned traitor and were doing their duty.
Either way Luther was not gifted by the chaos gods, he had made no packed with them for power, he was simply a more skilled combatant as he was the one who taught the Lion how to fight.

Perturabo almost lost the battle of phall against Alexis Polux.
Alpharius lost a knife fight against a Lucifer black in legion (although a knife still can't hurt a primarch, and it might not have been Alpharius anyway) Automatically Appended Next Post: In the novel Corax ..

I don't remember which book, it had lots of Ultramarines in it. On a 1-10 on the eyeroll level this particular title was a solid 8 so take what you will from that, still a case of regular astartes vs a primarch.

It was Unremembered Empire, and Guilliman actually won that fight. As for Luther and the Lion: When the Lion returned to Caliban after the Horus Heresy, Luther attacked his fleet. The Lion and Luther engaged in single combat. In this battle Lion El'Jonson wounded Luther but could not bring himself to kill his oldest and dearest friend. Luther, however, was merciless and sent a sorcerous blast straight towards Lion El'Jonson which mortally wounded the Primarch. That is what Lexicanum says. It has [needs citation], so a citation would indeed be useful.

Luther was always boosted by the warp.
In the current HH series he's already started dabbling in sorcery/warpcraft.

The black legion killed Dorn when he decided to try a clutch on their ship, Magnus took a beating vs Ironwolf or whatever his name is during the battle of Fang buuut he had already torn his way through a skilled lord chaplain, 6 dreadnoughts, Bjorn the fellhanded, a wolf lord and his terminator body guard, tonnes of mortal sw huskarls and weapon teams, plus it was only a manifestation of a part of his spirit and a weak part at that AND he still won in the end. Fulgrim gets beaten by 100 of his luitenants (although it is suggested that he allowed them to subdue him). Temba wounded Horus, the coven of World Eater psykers+the legion master dreadnought Lhorke managed to wound a distracted Lorgar before getting literally eaten by Angron. That's all I can think of right now, I'm sure there are more Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and Mortarion god out-poisoned by his adoptive father

On Luther and his chaos Juice
IA: The Unforgiven
The Primarch faced his former brother and knew that he was lost to him, that the dark power had destroyed the honourable man he had once been. The Primarch was a living god amongst men, but Luther had been elevated by the Chaos powers to be his equal in almost every way. The two warriors fought in a battle the like of which had never been seen before and has never been witnessed since. The ancient home of the Order was reduced to rubble in their epic battle as the Dark Angel fleet continued to bombard the planet, flattening the citadel of every remaining monastery. Caliban's surface began to crack and heave under the constant shelling, the fury of the Dark Angels blinding them to the devastation they were wreaking on their own world.

Custodes are trained to be elite 1 on 1 fighters.
There a warrior. Over a marine. "soldier" most effective as a sqayd and larger unit.

As mentioned, Kaldor spanking Mortarion, then signing off on Mortarion's heart.
Pollux would have beaten Perturabo if he not for Perty having his ass saved by a deus ex machina.
Luther did beat the Lion though, and I think most people downplay how awesome Luther was; he wasn't even a real Astartes! It's mentioned in the fluff, that if not for the Lion, the people of Caliban would have remembered Luther as the hero of an age.
And the Chaos Gods haven't boosted anyone else to Primarch levels. Just look at Abaddon. They barely managed to give him Eternal Warrior. I mean, Khorne couldn't even make Khârn stand up to a Space Marine Captain with a powerfist.

He didn't go toe to toe with Curze, he was being played with. The wound he got probably got sealed in a matter of minutes, if not less. He may have been careless and therefore got that wound, but once he got serious he pinned Polux down with one kick, and was ready to deal him the final blow and would have succeed if not for the Pharos trick. I would not call that a victory, to just escape with your life, especially for an Imperial Fist

Was he, I didn't get that impression at all, whereas with the fight against Auguston I think I would agree with you, after Curze killing him with his own sword. My take on it is that he managed to wound a Primarch on his own turf, the scary dark, and he lived. For an Astartes who are supposed to be weaker and slower and no where near as good as a Primarch that sounds like a victory to me. Maybe a shallow one, but still in the favour of Polux.
If we're counting Dinas Chayne stabbing maybe Alpharius, then why not what Polux did. Maybe we need to have a points system based on the feat, situation and outcome. +10 for landing a blow, - 10 for dying etc

So 1v1 and tactical victories then.
Would you count that down to the men or the plan of Russ that they followed though?
