Are you sure you're not just into watching humans die in brutal ways? You could watch the Saw series you know, instead of demanding real humans die for your entertainment.

I'm pretty sure that was a joke, Pouncey

I have encountered people who seriously believe that all criminals who are convicted of a violent crime, should be taken out behind the courthouse immediately following their conviction and shot in the head.
Perhaps you should have read the post immediately preceding yours then?

But if you're going to go kill people I don't really care if you're "soft" about it. Humanely killing someone sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me. Injecting someone with a lethal dose of a drug no less kills them than putting a bullet through their head. My suggestion would kill a person almost instantly, the person wouldn't feel a thing, the only downside is the gooey mess you have to hose down afterwards

The executioner might object to seeing the results, and paying someone to clean it up would be extremely expensive (you WILL clean it up - it's a body and a biohazard). I guess it might also be worth mentioning Nazi death squads. The Third Reich didn't move up to extermination camps only for efficiency but also genuine concern for their own guys who had to personally shoot defenseless civilians at close range. Death squad troopers had to be recycled frequently or burn out and many were badly traumatized. Industrialized death made it less personal and easier to kill.

So in short different "humane" execution methods aren't just for the poor guy getting executed, it's to make those who condemn and execute him feel better about it.

And this is a problem. Death should never feel good. It should be horrible and traumatizing and the judge or jury who sentences the person should be personally responsible for carrying out the execution. The burden of choosing death should be so heavy that it becomes the absolute last resort for punishing the worst of the worst crimes, only those truly evil people whose continued existence society must not tolerate no matter the cost of ending it. If you make death easy and convenient and just a matter of signing the paperwork then people will be too eager to impose the death penalty.

Maybe instead of hosing it down have the metal grate over the top of a crematorium furnace so you're just left with a pile of ashes to dust up.

That mostly sounds like a good reason to just accept killing people isn't a great idea if the mental health of the person pushing the button is a serious concern.
