What would he do?

What would happen?

Would things change?

Really, it depends on how you think of Abaddon and what happens to the astronomican.

If he's your Saturday cartoon villain, he'll sit around and let the glorious ultramarines (or the space wolves) come in and beat him off.
If we're going for max grimdark, he breaks through the palace, kills the custodes, murders the high lords and the enperor and destroys the astronomican. As soon as that dies, so does the imperium as a whole.
If he want's to rule the imperium to some extent, he might try to corrupt the Astronomican somehow. We could have a reverse siege of Terra, give the IW a chance to defend the palace from the IF's. I like this idea.

What happens to mars is also likely quite important.

If you allow yourself to be killed and ingested, your soul is forfeited.

I feel he would sunder Terra and the palace, destroying the astronomical. Then humanity would be scattered warbands fighting for survival, until the Emperor is reincarnated as a guiding light and the fragments of humanity can unite to fight the darkness

Black legion fragments after. Abaddon job done loses all importance.

There's no need for a massive unified . Semi unified chaos force or black crusades.

Job done. Meh gods can go meh and leave him to do whatever..

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I look forward to Abaddon's diabolic empire and the Abominomicon!

Yeah, I guess once the jobs done the Chaos Gods would have everything they wanted and it would fragment and they would start warring amongst the different factions. Abaddon and the Black Legion warriors loyal to him would likely become a target like the Sons of Horus were after the Heresy as the other legions vie for power. Maybe Abaddon finally ascends to Daemonhood or the Gods grant him Spawndom as a reward.

No pity, no remorse, no shoes

Hmm, I like that twist. Abaddon over throws the Imperium, creates a diabolic empire of chaos, but is 'rewarded' with spawndom as the gods are scared of his ambition and prowess.

My guess is we'll get the 8th Edition

In regard of fluff i think, he would kill the big E and destroy the astronomican dividing the imperium in several non united entities.
