Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

So its been a while since I got back to Warhammer. I really need to find my legion so I can get to work on my 30k/40k army. My problem is that I keep switching. I need to find the legion that is best for me. I tried those quizzes but they really never helped me. I need help from you guys to find my legion. My friends described me as:

Negative traits:
-cold
-logical
-stubborn
-I hide my feelings a lot and look like a pessimist
-easily angry
-cannot handle stupidity
-quick to judge

Positive traits:
-Honourable
-sympathetic to people I pity
-loyal
-apparently I'm a good friend
-I can read faces
-Straightforward

Some things about me:
-born in a warzone
-hate the colour green love the dark colours
-Lazy (contributes to painting)

Please help me... you are my last hope.

Looks like Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus/Black Legion to me. Won't be 'dark colours' in 30k (they were primarily white back then), unless you go for an odd non-uniform detachment that was a different colour.

Possibly Iron Hands. Black armored dudes who remained loyal during the heresy. But they love bionics and oppose natural body, so they cold come off as cold and pessimistic and logical

All the traits of your personality lead me to suggest either Dark Angels or Salamanders...but you hate green.

Could play HH Dark Angles. They have Black Armour.

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K

I took your painting preferences as the strongest factor.

Ultramarines. Green is a much easier color to paint, but you hate it, so blue is (imo) the next easiest.

I voted Death Guard.

A bunch of overweight smelly guys who win by taking punishment rather than being especially good at fighting.

My logic is you're posting on a message board and painting toy soldiers rather than running ultra-marathons or hunting ISIL in the hills of Syria.

Ancient Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought

30k space Wolves.
Black base, Negro Metal layer, Gold trim and a red pauldron with a wolf head transfer on it.
Lazy paint scheme - check.
Cold and easily angered don't really go hand in hand but the Ice Wolves in Space manage.
Stubborn is a trait of pretty much all Space Marines.
The Space Wolves tend to wear their feelings on their sleeves so that one's a fail.
Easily angered is pretty much a pre-requisite for the Space Wolf ranks.
Patience for what they believe is stupid isn't exactly a rare trait in the Space Marine ranks in general.
Quick to judge describes every single faction in the GrimDark.

Questionable...people will argue hypocracy.
Started a war with the Inquisition over the lives of humans that held absolutely no benefit to them.
Stayed loyal to a vampiric corpse on a golden tomb.
Honestly the Wolves are horrible friends but they are the guys who step up for you when you need it.
The Wolves only read body language, they can't be bothered reading between the lines.
The Wolves embody the KISS rule, Keep It Simple and Savage.

The Space Wolves all come from Warrior Tribes who live on a Deathworld.
The colour green is for Salamanders who the Wolves don't mind and the Dark Angels who the Wolves hate.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

since when are those deemed as negative. I'd also argue about not showing feelings but that people would start saying that all russins are grim and evil. We are.

Well I see them as negatives because they cloud my judgement. I also happen to be a 17 year old kid who takes AP classes and going to the best University in Canada. So ya does that do anything?

That you try to impress strangers on the internet because you crave approval and validation due to self-esteem issues?

Jokes aside, I think you should pick your army based on aesthetics, fluff, and playstyle. First, the 30k and 40k aesthetics are very different. I tried running both 30k and 40k Alpha Legion armies using the same models, but there's a definite crash between the two ranges. They just don't look that good next to each other. I'd suggest picking two separate armies instead. Based on your colour choices, the only ones to drop would be 40k Dark Angels, 30k Sons of Horus, and Salamanders. Which really doesn't narrow it down very much.

Are there any Legions whose lore and fluff you like? Any models that you rather quite like? Or any special playstyle you prefer?

First off, if you find yourself constantly switching, it means you need an army with a lot of depth and the ability to do very different things as the need arises. For that reason, I'd probably suggest Eldar or Space Marines.

Secondly, I generally find that basing your army on your own personality is a good way to start disliking your own army, especially when you have some of the traits listed. As such, might I suggest going with the OPPOSITE of your own traits?

You say you're logical, quick to anger, and cold? Go with a force that's illogical, slow to anger, and jovial! Might I suggest giving Eldar with Harlequin allies a try? Since they're so opposite of yourself, you won't feel bad when they bite the dust, and the army can be played in a LOT of different ways. Also, though they CAN be painted amazingly, the Harlequin's penchant for bright colours means that you can practise colour-matching with them very easily. Or, make them Ninjas; black, grey drybrush, light grey light drybrush.

Your self-appraisal may not be accurate. They very rarely are. Also, stop trying to impress random strangers.

Go read some of the fluff for the different legions/chapters on the wikis. Find which ones have an interesting background and color scheme that resonates with you. Then read up on their tactics on something like 1d4chan to find out how they play and what sort of units they tend to use. Decide from their because picking based on your personality is not remotely reliable in finding what you like. For example I love the Orks and especially like the Deathskulls clan but in no way am I a thieving, loot crazed, football hooligan, who thinks smashing things in the face is the epitome of fun and problem solving. Figuring out what you like and don't like is far more productive than trying to match a narrow and inaccurate self evaluation of your person that fails to capture the vast complexity of a personality.

Yes, but your behavior directly contradicts the parts of your self-appraisal where you said you were "cold" and "logical". Therefore, the integrity of your appraisal is compromised.
For what it's worth, I recommend Ultramarines.

Kingston was awesome. Though the Queen's students didn't like us much...

Anyways, do Salamanders. Salamanders are the best legion anyways, everyone else is just in denial.

I actually dont want to play salamanders or dark angels, i just tagged them on so no one would get sad by their legion not being represented. I find the DA are too boring and that the Salamanders's tactics a little boring.

I am very, very fond of the Salamanders' compassion for the ordinary citizens of the Imperium. They really do act like the protectors of humanity.

Also the Space Wolves earned a lot of respect in my eyes for telling both the Ecclesiarchy and Inquisiton to feth off with lethal force.

Problem is that I have already done that...multiple times. Sometimes I feel like planning is the best way to go to war, so I become an Ultramarine/alpha legionary. But I want to be quick and hit hard so now I am RG, WE, WS and NL. But I love magic so now I am TS. My fav. colour is black. But I dont like Black legion or DA.

Make your own chapter/legion? With Codex Marines or CSMs you can just change which chapter/legion tactics your using to match whichever playstyle your feeling. Even if your army is painted in Ultrasmurf colors it doesn't stop you from using White Scars, Raven Guard, Iron Hands, etc tactics. Figure out if you want to play loyalist or chaos and go from there?

So play a successor/variant warband. Even in 30k not everyone had the exact same uniform on all the time, there were variations and companies with their own heraldry.
