Does someone have additional info on the subject? They are setting up a dedicated webpage for FAQs?
Beakie Brigade on B&C
On the WHTV stream today there was an interview with Andy (not sure on surname) who is part of the Warhammer Community team. Apparently they'd eventually like to add an interactive FAQ system where players can easily look up answers by searching, and have the ability to vote on the most important questions for official rulings from the rules writers, though I'm not sure if they will be crowdsourcing the most popular community rulings or coming up with the actual answer.
In response to a chat question on why WHC currently has 'no community features' he mentioned they'd also like to add comments to articles on WHC and maybe have an official army list builder as well (no forum though, which I personally think is good). Ultimately they want WHC to be about what the users want to see.
Interview starts at approx 1 hour 56 mins here though I believe you will need to be a subscriber to watch.

I suspect this is because the detachment allows you to include the combined Adeptus Mechanicus formation detailed in the book, rather than entries from the Skitarii or Cult Mechanicus codecies directly. The abbreviations are just for use in page references to other publications. Which is probably why Codex Adepta Sororitas, Inquisiton and Assassins are mentioned - the references could be like: "2+ Battle Sisters Squads ( pg xx IA/ pg xx AS)."
Basically don't read too much into a list of abbreviations.

I'm guessing this is probably because these rules are on a two-page spread, with the opposite page being the skiitari rules. That space was the only free space for a bit of art.

To answer some questions regarding the detachments ...
You have two of them in the book - the first is the Grand Convocation which allows you to use a full ad mec force. You can use Codex Skitarii, Cult Mechanicum, Knights aswell as the enginseer from Imperial Agents or Astra Militarum, and you need atleast two different codices to use the list (so for example, you can make an army with skitarii and an enginseer HQ, or mix cult and skitarii, or cult and knights, or all of them, etc).
The Castellans detachment has NO ad mec stuff in it. Only Space Marines, Assassins, Sororitas, Astra Militarum, Inquisition, Knights and Militarum Tempestus.

(Specifically though, you seem to not be able to use Codex: Militarum Tempestus, only the version of the MT from the Astra Militarum Codex, since they're listed as Elites rather than Troops.)
I'd love to be wrong on that, as it would mean they'd get the better orders and taurox prime option, but that's what I see in the images.

But any space marine? Seems to be very restrictive the use the codex space marine to Nameless units or black templars and their characters.

Seems odd that in the fiction there are 2 Great Companies of Space Wolves as well as a Dark Angels presence, yet these can't be part of a Castellan detachment.

How does this hq/troop thing shake out in codex IK? I have mine open in front of me and no troops and only way to take a hq is to make him a warlord?
But this here page says I can use it in tandem with C.IK
Never made mind I see knights are LoW. Lame. I am that guy that runs a full knight list in 40k. If you object I will bust out marines. Though people around here quickly learned knight armies are easier to deal with than my drop pod hate rain.

You can take Lords of War in Castellan.

It's just the price we pay for the sweet sweet privilege of playing Blood Angels or Space Wolves or DA; we get our own codex and some unique toys but we miss the party when the vanilla marine book gets updates. At that point I just run my blood angels with the marine codex instead of the blood angel codex. We don't even get assault marines as troops anymore so screw it, you hardly lose much by using the vanilla book anyway

Oh, you CAN take MT as troops or elites, that's interesting. That means if you take them as troops you get the MT special orders and presumably the Taurox Prime.

Reread the pictures given...
In order to get the MT special Orders, you need to take a Tempestus Command Squad as an HQ. The Militarum Tempestus Squad is what you get as Troops.
If you take the Elite version, you're taking a Militarum Tempestus Platoon which consists of 0-1 Tempestus Command Squad and 1-3 Tempestus Squads.
It's also important to note that it specifically states what book these things come from.

This is true, and makes that a less useful option as HQ is going to be the crowded slot in this detachment for sure. You need to devote one to Coteaz, probably one to Celestine, and then the MT command squad is competing with Smashfether, Pask, AM CCS, etc.
Less useful, but still an interesting option.
In terms of the best troops, BSS and Scouts in LSS are the obvious standouts. I wonder, with Hatred for free is it worth going for melee scouts with a Pfist sarge? Could be funny to run Imperium Ork Boyz.

Yeah, but there's almost no point stretching for the full detachment. Any unit you REALLY need fearless on...just take a "no force org slot" priest from AM for 25pts, done. For any SMs, Hatred is better than Zealot, and for any significant investment like a guard blob, youc an just add a priest.

Less useful, but still an interesting option.
In terms of the best troops, BSS and Scouts in LSS are the obvious standouts. I wonder, with Hatred for free is it worth going for melee scouts with a Pfist sarge? Could be funny to run Imperium Ork Boyz.
It does make it, however, so that you can run an army using nothing but Scions or equipment associated with Scions(Taurox Prime/Valkyries)...and lets you have both types of Orders running on the field at the same time.

Barebones for me is 4000 points. With extras for my army it's 8000!
Also, Full Barebones for Space Marine, with the cheapest units, Inquisitor Corteaz as a HQ, and Knight Gallants as LOW, still ends up being 3000 points
The funny part is that if you think this is weighty, look at a Cadia Detachment from Mont'ka.

Wow... That is ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the 5 squad minimum in the Platoons...
This is worse I think, because with straight Imperial Guard it ends up with 8 squads for the Troops base, but then all the Lord of Wars, Fast Attack, Elites, it builds up. You would end up with more models on the field then the Mont'ka,

You know the difference between a "Core" Formation and just straight plug+play, yeah?
Any time you wanted to exceed the amount of Auxiliaries allotted by a Core Formation, you have to take another one.

I honestly like the new Castellans force org/formation. I can just use Veterans (AM) and Scouts (SM) to fill in the 4 required troops then I can feel free (after taking my preferred HQ's) to season to taste with any of those other units I can take in all the other slots

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.
