Not sure if this has been discussed before (if it has please tell me to shut up!)

Just re-watched the 2016 review from the GW community website
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2016/12/20/we-had-a-great-2016/

In it they quote that (5:16)

'and no matter which faction you collect, you're going to get to some very very cool stuff with your miniatures in the future'

Thoughts on what this may be? 8th?

Probably just a blanket statement and not worth reading into much.

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

We need to hold them to this statement as a community. They are listening to us for the first time in a long time.

New IG figures? I really hope so, and at a reasonable price too.

The way I take it is everyone will get some rules if they don't have anything new to buy. It doesn't mean the rules will be any good but NOBODY will be left out and therefore we should get excited to get something new.

For me, as a Tyranid player, all I can expect is disappointment now. I expect Robin Cruddace to make something new for Tyrnaids and therefore not to get excited so I can't be disappointed then.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Auticus wrote: Or in summation: its ok to exploit shoddy points because those are rules and gamers exist to find rules loopholes (they are still "legal"), but if the same force can be composed without structure, it emotionally feels "wrong".

Yeah, this sounds like a way to set up a hook without actually promising anything. Maaaybe that crappy army you have will get better rules, maybe it'll get shiny new toys, maybe it's simply a new edition/new ways to play... who knows?

I am thinking cool stuff means some kind of a consumer loyalty program, where you buy X dollars work of plastic army men and they give you stickers and shirts and stuff.

It's not enough they take our money, now they have to force us to litter our houses.

'Going to get to do some very very cool stuff with your miniatures' is an odd turn of phrase.

Might be reading into it, but if all we were getting is some new releases it would say 'going to get some very very cool stuff for your armies'.

Doing stuff with your miniatures implies something active, like a campaign or something like that...

I'm almost positive that the line was something to the effect of "No matter what army you play, you'll get something for it."

Pretty sure it was 'you'll get to do some very very cool things'

'Do' for me meaning either
a) new ruleset
b) new campaigns

Both giving new ways to use your armies. Not sure which or which I prefer if I'm honest

"you're going to get to some very very cool stuff with your miniatures in the future".

Of a certainty.

Whether that will be with GW's rules is a different matter, though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

What exactly is the alternative to the statement, "Every faction is going to get cool stuff"?

That only some factions are going to get cool stuff? That every faction is not going to get cool stuff?

As a Sisters of Battle player, I think maybe the emphasis there was on "all factions."

And I couldn't be happier to hear that they're expanding the number of armies they're giving new stuff to from "almost all" to "all".
