Okay, so it's often said that dealing with flyers is one of the weaknesses of Sisters of Battle.
So, I think the way to deal with those flyers you can't do anything about, is to just ignore them.
Will this mean that they will be shooting you unopposed? Yes.
So will everything else you fail to kill.
Are you planning to table your opponent or something?

Sisters just need a dedicated AA unit, like the Hydra. Failing that, Heavy Bolters have worked well for me against non SM Flyers as an IG player; certainly not efficient, but it works.
Pretty sure the objective of most games of 40k involves this.

So your intention in a game of 40k is to cause mild/severe harm to your opponent's forces, but not to crush them?
Since tabling is a form of alternate victory, it can be the objective in any game. I've certainly never heard of anyone who doesn't want to table their opponent, unless their list has been designed to hold objectives, in which case, good luck when Purge the Alien pops up.

That's mostly a stupid idea in 40k at the moment; it's much easier to go for your opponent and take objectives in your wake now rather than tailor to taking objectives. Unlike a game like Dropzone Commander, 40k is not objective focused, no matter how hard it tries to be in the current rules.

1) SoB has a flier
2) SoB weakness to fliers is if you dont take any fliers
Every army has weakness, but every list has more. If you dnt build to have AA then thats your weakness and hope your opponent doesnt have them.
PS: Did you really just make a post about something so trivial? Yes if you army cant kill something you dont try, you kill everything else this is common sense.
EDIT: this is the flier if you didnt know https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Imperial-Navy-Avenger-Strike-Fighter
Its not that bad honestly, for 125pts? With 2 Lascannons and a large amount of weapons you can choose from. You can make it AA, light AT or AI.

They work around it by taking 2 fliers, and I dont know anyone that says this....
Edit: Now with the SM formations its even easier for Imperial to get AA if you didnt want to fill you SoB CAD slots up.

You wanna keep taking anti-air choices because you're trying to table people, whatever.

Ignoring them is hardly a workaround, at least without a decent breakdown why you should. If I said "Ignore Riptides because they're tough to kill" nobody would take me seriously, even if in a lot of scenarios, it can be the right decision, as you instead turn your firepower on the enemy units that are actually causing more damage as a whole. Even with that second bit, it's hardly crystal advice. Pouncey wrote:You wanna keep taking anti-air choices because you're trying to table people, whatever. You make it sound like trying to wipe out your opponent in a non objective focused game sound criminal. Stop trying to make an issue out of other people's more tangible suggestions to deal with flyers other than "just ignore them".

.... trying to table? Argue?
HAHHAA
1) You gave your 0.2c as a work around, well guess what "So did I"
2) Having an answer to AA is consider "trying to table"? wtf?
3) Its a war game about killing your opponent, are you not trying to table them while your getting objective? Or are you running in circles hoping they arent trying to table you too?
Oh oh man. you made my day, I think its time for launch now it was so good.

It's not a question of trying to table an opponent - you kill units on a target by target basis, with the highest priority given to units that are crucial to your opponent's army. Ignoring the flyer(s) will work if they're not doing anything decisive. If the opponent is going to use its weapons, cargo or mobility to influence the game then it has to go. Luckily your army has access to loads of twin-linked Multimeltas and Meltaguns that you can fire at Flyers.

Flyers come in a few categories: straight-up attack planes, which tend to be overpriced for their armament because of the added durability of being a flyer and so can be ignored without too much bother, FMCs, which tend to be much too difficult to kill even for books with dedicated AA tools, transports, which functionally staple a 'confer Deep Strike' effect to an attack plane and are thus both overpriced and irrelevant as a target once their payload has been delivered, Superheavies, which are usually in excess of 700pts and you can't really avoid shooting them if one happened to show up, and in a few rare cases a normal-size flyer that just happens to be cost-effective and hilariously overarmed.
As for Sisters' available AA units trying with Retributors is theoretically possible but I wouldn't recommend it (as of the current printing of the Inquisition rules in which an attached Psyocculum wouldn't let you shoot flying psykers at BS10), which leaves you with either allies, fortifications, or going back to one of the oldest still-current books* (out of print, but the models are still made) to grab an Avenger. (I do recall the existence of AA ammo for the Exorcist in an IA book at one point, but I can't actually find it right now.)
(*Aeronautica, which though printed almost on day one of 6e is still the most current source for using any Imperial Guard/Navy flyer with the 40k books rather than in the FW-specific Guard variant army lists, several Ork flyers and AA vehicles, and if for some reason you pine for the lost days of the 3e Dark Eldar range the Raven, also known as the ugliest model in the history of Forge World.)

Just ally in the Space Marine AA. They got their own formation that doesn't have much taxing and the benefit isn't too bad.
Otherwise just keep hoping you roll high numbers on the Exorcist.

It's easy to ignore flyers, you can plainly see were they have to move to and where they can shoot after moving. Just always move toward the flyer and put terrain between where you stop and where to the flyer will stop. Not all that hard to do. The strength of the Sisters is tons of cheap ObSec in Rhinos, so playing mission, killing soft targets and avoiding tough maych ups generally equals a win in most cases. Play smart, don't get hung up in countering your opponent.

If I was gonna use a formation from another 'dex to give sisters air support I'd go with a valkyrie from a narritive POV, it makes sense, they're supposed to be Imperial navy supplied air support. the sisters should be able to call it ion as much as the guard
