Improvements:

1. No super heavies in normal games.
2. Fewer special rules. Stop handing them out like candy.
3. Tone down formation bonuses.
4. Orks and Nids could use a boost.

This, mostly satisfied with 40k as a whole.

Big complaints are as listed above, I would also throw in the removal of D weapons from normal games as well and the removal of the ally matrix.

To many unpainted models to count.

GW needs to create a public errata designed for the competitive crowd, coupled with rigorous playtesting before any major release.

Provide options and alternatives to speed up some parts of the game, like setup.

Set standard, competitive point sizes. (IE: Competitive small: 1250. Competitive Medium: 1500. Competitive Large: 1850. Competitive very large: 2000 - or whatever. The scale doesn't make sense that i used, but i wanted to include 1850).

Searchable, condensed rulebooks in a digital format.

Mostly agree with you. The only part I really disagree with you is 1-I like superheavies! Even though I own none.

Yeah, D weapons are a pain.

Maybe I need to go to somewhat satisfied, but since my opponents don't use D weapons and super heavies, I'm pretty happy, I would say!

Mostly dissatisfied but then the armies I used were Orks, Nids, BA, and DE.

Some bias from me but the poll is fair, so kudos.

Also be aware that theremay be a preferential bias posting it here in 40k. You might get a different response in Dallas Discussions.

Yeah, there might be. But a lot of people have been voting for not satisfied, so while there might be SOME bias, I don't think it'll be overwhelming.

More than that, even if there is bias, eh, whatever. This is far from an official GW poll, so if it ain't perfect, I won't lose sleep.

I hate driving in Dallas. The city didn't keep up with the growing population. Also, no mass transit.

I am very dissatisfied with Dallas.

I am somewhat satisfied, not due to rules but due to price.

I paid 30 USD for a rule book that I needed 5 to 6 pages from, now I run a small army (550 pts) but I cant think of many people who use ever 50% of the rules in the book. the price to manufacture them and the price they are selling them at is really bad

single models costing upwards of 30 USD is unreasonable.

That's a pretty legitimate reason to be dissatisfied. Not precisely what I was asking, but it works.

There's a sub-forum on Dakka for discussions about Dallas, Texas, or otherwise, of, by or about people from Dallas, Texas?

God I hate to be that guy, but it is interesting that some people are taking 40k to include the cost of the game, in addition to the game itself.

I interpreted it to be the game itself. Obviously I would like this to be cheaper. haha

I voted "mostly satisfied." I don't have many complaints but the number of poorly worded rules with little-to-no clarification is one of them. Some of that was addressed in the FAQ, so I'm hopeful for the future and that probably bumps up my feelings on the game a bit as well.

I'd like for the rules to be super tight. That, more than anything, would make me super happy.

I'd like everything to be cheaper

It is interesting like you say, but it's also a very real factor in why some people quit or are thinking about quitting. Interpretations will vary on the factors involved, but it does still point a given person to their level of satisfaction overall, which this poll still measures, so it's all good

That's the problem with polls in a vacuum. Different interpretations to different people.

It's why YMDC was such a mess before GW came out with FAQ's.

I'd update the first post with the average. Easier to keep track off, although the results will show some sort of pattern once a big enough sample size has been gathered. Presumably a bell shaped pattern.

I just wish there were periodic updates to armies that are not favorites by GW. I understand Space Marines might be their flagship army, but there are dozens of rulebooks covering tiny facets of a single army.

I might be biased as an Ork player, but even rereleases or updates to books coming out for my army or even Tyranids would be good. Even to pay a couple bucks. Otherwise it's a few years before an update is made and even then it's quickly outpaced as soon as escalation starts.

This was there's no handicap for older or less popular armies. I think they forget sometimes that an armies playability is tied into their profit. I'd love to buy Ork Kommandos, flash gitz, and stormboyz. But their uselessness because of the current Meta means it's only out of sheer hobby I would buy any of these. But instead I have to make sure I buy more than X in order to play against ABCDEFGHIJK.

One of the best things about AoS initial release, despite the rebuilding from scratch that it was, were that the rules were completely free and released at the same time. Sure you could buy printed copies, but everything you could need is online. I only hope the same is implemented for 40k 8th edition, since with online rules it's much easier to (A) actually get into the hobby when you're not spending $100 on books and (B) it's easier to update rules if something is found to be imbalanced.

I'm pretty happy, even as an ork player.

I'm a little surprised about people still not liking superheavies. I fight them all the time (again, as an ork player), and I get that some specific superheavies are a little OP at the moment, but things like knights are perfectly reasonable. Hell, I don't even think wraithknights are all that bad either. Stormsurge is pretty crazy, honestly, I'll admit.

I don't even think D is all that bad, though deathblows probably need to be toned down slightly, maybe 3+D3 instead of 6+D6.

My biggest complaints probably are:

Swooping flying MC/GCs should have a firing arc. Compared to flying vehicles, having a 360 degree firing arc is almost cheating, and takes any and all challenge of using a flyer out of the game, and you just have a unit that acts mostly uninhibited but is hard to hit and impossible to charge.

MCs and vehicles should be balanced, as again, MCs have almost all advantages and few disadvantages compared to vehicles. High armor saves, common invluns and FNP, and virtual immunity to ranged instant death, wheras any vehicle is one 10 point combi melta away from being a scrap heap.

Grav really needs some serious nerfs, as it is currently something that is amazing against anything dangerous in the game - high ROF, ap2, wounds everything dangerous easily, and can even cripple vehicles and massacre GMCs. The only thing it isn't great against is low armor save infantry, and basically everything else in the game is great against that.

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Words to live by.

I'm somewhat satisfied. I find it annoying to have to be so cautious in setting up a game that we're both going into it with the same expectations. I'd love to have a game where the only time I'm worried about is the points cost, and not whether someone's just going to take an "I win" button that requires that I also have brought a counter "I win button". I have the stuff to do that, but I don't want every game to be tournament-level battles of these types.

However, it's been a LONG time since I've been so satisfied with GW's community outreach and variety of forces, so that's a BIG plus for me and likely the thing that's keeping me active in the game! Without it, I'd probably be playing a lot less than I currently am.

Mostly satisfied. My only real complaints are:

1. The absurd amount of special rules and
2. The proliferation of formations. I like the idea of formations, but GW went overboard with it.

They're sadly doing the same thing with AoS.
