Danny,

Onager, dunrstriders, knights are all getting IWND and potms.

IWND on knights and picking up a 5++ save on vehicles is pretty huge.

Your not asking for an army wide special rule, you are complaining that you aren't getting two army wide special rules. DI and canticles on every unit.

Technically Ironstriders and Dragoons too, though at 2 HP a piece they will never actually make an IWND roll.

DI on every unit would be nice. War Convocation or Conclave Aquisitorius for Canticles, Grand Convocation for DI makes a nice choice in army building. Again the only formations/detachments that do both require high point values so aren't often played.

That said I could live without either canticles or DI on all units, but it would be nice if the detachment benefit helped more than two units (or at most four if your robo-chickens live to roll IWND) across three codices and absolutely nothing from one of the three.

Wait are people complaining they are not getting enough free stuff with their formation bonuses?

To many unpainted models to count.

More about the opportunity to make Mechanicus a cohesive list with a strong alternative to taking War Convocation (which is the only real competitive option these days) and play their entire army. The War Convo is highly restrictive and forces you to take units that aren't always what you want or need (like I would love a load of vanguard and not rustalkers). Heck, or even drop free points and all those rules that aren't all that helpful (crusader, really?) and give a little obsec.

17,000 points (Valhallan)
10,000 points
6,000 points (Order of Our Martyred Lady)
Proud Countess of House Terryn hosting 7 Knights, 2 Dominus Knights, and 8 Armigers
Stormcast Eternals: 7,000 points

I agree completely with the war convocation for canticles and grand convocation for DI, that would make sense and be very fair, i don't need both. I just don't want two totally different army wide rules that each only apply to half my army.

I really don't consider knights, because in a lot of gaming metas knights and any lord of war is frowned upon.

no, that's not what anyone is complaining about.

What we're complaining about is that we lose abilities just for the chance to take our army as one cohesive force, or we take the other one that gives free points.

So actually we're complaining about free points because a lot of us don't want to have to use that abomination just to be able to field our 3 separate books as the one army they should have been from the start, or choose the other formation that takes away our special rules.

so basically the exact opposite of what you said.

While I disagree with the Decurion thing danny slag, you are pretty much right with everything else.

even with the new Cawl-special convocation thing it's still really aweful because you still have to take the skitarii maniple (one of everything) and now the holy requisitor, though now without the benefit of free upgrades the skitarii maniple eats up 1,000 points if you wanna run anything to at least half-effectiveness, the holy requisitor eats up another 300 points, Cawl 200 and then you still have to through a knight in there. why run that when you could run the war convocation, take less and still have an effective army?

For the Grand Covocation POTMS does not help knights because they can already splitfire and ignores all results outside of explodes. it is ultimately a useless rule for super heavies.

The Dragoon is melee focused so POTMS doesn't help all that much, unless you want to take some phosphor guns for potentially split charging nonsense. the iron strider's one gun doesn't really need or is worth power of the machine spirit either.

again, if we had more vehicles then it would be a lot more worth while, but as it stands the grand covocation is really limited.

413th Lucius Exterminaton Legion- 4,000pts

Atalurnos Fleetbreaker's Akhelian Corps- 2500pts
