Running a SM salamanders chapter and I'm going to add a Redeemer to my army. I understand that it is the most difficult to use land raider seeing as I have to run it up straight into the enemy face

My question, what do you guys thing is the best to put in it. I'm considering a command squad with 3 flamers, 1 relic flamer and an apothecary, joined by vulkan he'stan. Or a 5 man assault termie squad with hammers and Shields joined by a chaplain? Any other suggestions?

Sisters of silence with swords so that your landraider can actually flame that invisible deathstar. they are also a cheap source of decent i5 ap2

What invisible deathstar?

I’d go with a choppy unit. If you just want to flamer something, drop pods do the job better, for a lot less.

Assault terminators are a solid (and classic) load for a LR. But command squads, honor guard, VVs, or anyone else who wants to be in CC could work.

The assumption being made is that you will be facing an invisible deathstar and will need some way to fight it.

The joke was if said deathstar was invisible, one could not see it...

I guess the joke was a bit hard to see as well.

Things that can't go in a drop pod - so, uh, nothing? If you really must, then as Nevelon said, Hammernators, honour guard or VV's are the obvious choices, though you could go full slow and jam 4 assault centurions in there. There's a certain charm to 12 str10 ap2 armourbane attacks at I4 and the twin linked melta or flamer options would suit your salamanders theme quite well. Cataphracti Terminators with Chainfists would also get the job done if you're being plagued by knights.

I don't think there's really any other options as anything that wants to shoot doesn't want to be stuck inside a land raider and there's not really any other choppy units in the SM dex. Outside the SM dex however you've got a few different options - Custodes, Sisters of Silence, Repentia, Infiltrators and Ruststalkers would all appreciate an assault transport to charge out of.

Thanks for illuminating my meaning!

Back to topic, I have considered the centurions but paying even 1 point for a twin-linked melta when I already get all meltas twin-linked for free seems a waist. I will keep it simple and take a squad of termies, probably 2 with shields and 3 with lightning claws + vulkan. I'm not planing to win any games with the LR alone, the point is to give my Vindicator, TFC and other shooting infantry some time to dish it out.
