How is Tzeench pronounced properly? I want to start this army so I want to make sure I am pronouncing it properly.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I've always pronounced it "Zee-nch" but with an incredibly slight 'T' at the beginning, making it more of a hard Z than a soft one. It's still only two syllables, so you don't really pronounce the T- it's part of the Z.

How do you pronounce it? Carefully.

(I don't know if i've ever tried to say it loud but i guess it would be like tsneech for me, which is probably wrong)

Every single person bar one that I have ever heard say it has been a variation of Zench (like wrench, with a Z). The T is silent, the second E generally ignored.

That one person pronounces it T-Zneen-tch.

I don't know where the extra N's and T's came from.

Me being Canadian, I use the Zed sound. Seeing how people say the T is silent I pronounce it like zed (with a silent d) and ench as in wrench so ze-ench. If I try to Americanise the Z I would try Zeee (almost like sea but with a more z sound) then inch so like Zeeeinch.

This is how I've always heard it over here.

In hq, it's pronounced "zinch" as in the zzz sound followed by 'inch'.

But in Canada, we don't pronounce words with Z any differently. It's just the letter. Zoo doesn't become Zedoo. :p

Zeench is the only way that's ever made sense to me.

Watch on youtube GWs latest how to paint video (blue horrors). At the start he says "Lately we have been releasing quite a few Tzeentch models..."

Anyway it is zeench. Tz, as in tsar, plus ench, rhymes with wrench.

Same here. Funnily enough, people around here can't pronounce Slaanesh.

Always comes out as 'Sleh nish'

When I get home, I'm going to message the Warhammer TV team and ask them to do a primer on some of the character names. Between Roboute Guilliman and Tzeench, I often have no idea what the hell I'm reading, & don't even get me started on Drycha Hamadreth.

I know. I guess I am just old. Seeing how Tzeench is not a real word, and how T's are never silent in the English language I don't follow to real rules either. So like in the souped up version of the Camaro in the 80's and 90's, it's called a Zed 28. So therefore being old, I am using that logic here.

See, Old age, I keep forgetting the most simplest ones. Now give me a word that starts with a T and is silent.

That said, thanks for the correction. I know I was wrong but couldn't for the life of me think of any. Damn memory failure. :(

I add a soft t sound to the start as with tsunami.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I do the same - 'tsneech' as a single syllable (with that tsunami t), though increasingly I just throw caution to the wind and say 'tizz' instead

Over the years I've heard 'tuh-zench' a lot, but what do Imperial lapdogs, xenos savages and followers of lesser gods know, m'right?

Why can you not hear a Pterodactyl go to the bathroom?
Because the 'P' is silent.

Like that, but for the "T"

Can't think of any!

In my personal opinion, "Tzeentch" being pronounced like "wrench" is just the British being weirdos about pronunciation like they tend to be. In North America it obviously should be like screech.

And there we have it. A word starting with a T and it's silent. Or everyone around me and I have been pronouncing tsunami wrong all this time. Soo-na-me.

Thanks all for your pronunciations. I can't say anyone is wrong because I have herd all the explanations from multiple people. I guess this suits Tzeentch perfectly. Just as his face changes, the pronouncing of his name changes as well.

Actually tsunami does have a t sound at the front but it's very subtle. There are different syllables in Japanese for "tsu" つ and "su" す. Try saying "zeench" but put your tongue to the top of your palete first.
