With the theme ‘Rogues And Scoundrels’, January’s challenge saw a bumper crop of assassins, pirates, nefarious masterminds and other ne’er-do-wells, and as always, it’s now time to pick your favourites.
You can cast as many votes as you feel you need for any reason you consider worthy, be that the quality of the paintwork, a particularly innovative conversion, an ambitious entry or one that epitomises the theme, or anything else you think is worthy of recognition. You are also encouraged to leave some feedback for the entrants if you can, and I’m sure those hosting their pics on Dakka would appreciate a gallery vote or two as well!
Voting will run for 5 days.

I voted the same way I always do - rule of cool. If I click on the picture and go "ooohhh!" I vote. Has little to do with skill or technical expertise...just the way I feel when I see the picture.
A lot of entries this month...well done.

I do love a good Rogue Trader model (and if I'd been bright enough to realise there's nothing more rogue than Rogue Trader I could have actually entered last month!!), so votes to ZoBo and Elbows. They're generally difficult models to work with - I feel your pain!
I also love Star Wars models, so votes to Midget and ScootyPuff, even though you've both put me off ever touching my boxed Star Wars models. I'd never get them to your standards, so now I'm scared to try! Midget, as always, love all the little details, like the Artoo hat and all the little Orky touches. ScootyPuff, the damage to Slave I looks amazing.
Votes also to Nevelon for a really characterful model; Modock for a great diorama - I really love the base; NathanD, Greyfax looks great. The silver/gold armour works really well, but it's all the little details that make this too.
It's great to see lots of different models this month - loads of variation instead of all the 40k stuff we usually get (and yes, all but one of my entries have been 40k )
Great work everyone, thanks to Para, and looking forward to taking part again in Feb.

Some great entries in here as always! I did manage to narrow it down to 5 votes:
Elbows: Those paintjobs are very crisp, which is really a good look for Eldar models.
Midget Gems: Another great and clever Ork konvershun from you! I love it!
Modock: That diorama is very characterful, showing those two rogueish types about to duke it out. I'm especially impressed by the green on the archer's cloak!
ScootyPuffJunior: Your Slave I model looks like it jumped off the movie screen. Very awesome!
Paradigm: Your model choice suits your painting style perfectly. I'm not entirely sure what a Gnoll is, but I wouldn't want to meet one based on this guy's looks!
Everyone did really good, so I hope everyone gets some votes! I sure had fun as always. Special shout out to Paradigm once again for putting this on for us, even during busy times at college. Double kudos for getting a nice model done in addition to all that! See you guys in the Technology challenge!

Great work this month everyone! And thank you to Bottle and Whittlesey for the kind comments!!
My votes have to go to;
Midget Gems - for an incredible conversion and paint job! Always loved the idea of a looted X-wing, but never known how to go about it! Great work!
Scootypuff Jr - your Slave I looks fantastic - exactly like the "real" thing!
Inevitable Faith - the wyches you painted up are stunning - the colour scheme is a refreshing change to the normal Dark Eldar aesthetic and I love the masks!
Modock - the diorama is awesome, especially impressed with the green of the archer's cape!
Moolet - you chose a very interesting miniature to paint, and the end result is very smooth and refined! The green armour really jumps out, especially in contrast to the pinks! Great job!!
Can't wait to see what everyone goes for next month!

Well done everyone, some of my favorites in no particular order (as usual, I actually ended up voting for even more than are listed below):
Elbows & Bandwagon - keeping the color scheme simple really helps these models, they're very expressive because of a very clean paintjob.
Chris56 - same as Elbows and Bandwagon, + nice highlighting.
Midget Gems - the model + the background in the images makes this a very complete entry. I'm getting a little tired of Star Wars, but this still made me smile and kudos for keeping it orky.
Modock and Feltmonkey - my two favorite entries, I think you should both tie for first; fits the theme perfectly, and you both knocked it out of the park!
Paradigm - fits the theme and is very clearly your painting style. I particularly like the design on the shield. Also, thanks for hosting these challenges.
See you all next month!

A good amount of different interpretations of the theme this month.
Special mentions to
Drummernathan - for completing your first model in 2 years
Bandwagon - also you first entry, great you decided to join us, keep going
Chris56 - Really liked the transition on the armour for your first completed entry.
mrhappyface - again first entry would love you see it with better pics (that are the right way round)
Modock - Great diorama, definably the best painted this month.
NathanD298 - really cool model.
ScootyPuffJunior - Brilliant weathering on the paint, a lot better than my attempt.
Mottlet - very good colours on the character.
Feltmonkey - Nice model, very well painted.
Dukeofbeer for painting Johann the Knife, my most hated Mordheim opponent (serious the guy is insane, he can throw six throwing knives in one turn if he does not move at BS6!).
Thanks to Whittlesey40k, Zerg, Bottle (hope to see you next month), NathanD298 and Gulgog for mentioning my entry and for any votes going to my Ork Xwing, he was fun to build and paint but think I'll go for a smaller entry next month. Good luck everyone

Another great competiton is behind us. Plenty of entries this month. Nice to see more people joining the ride!
I voted for the following contenders.
Elbows: There's something about that color scheme that works for me.
Midget Gems: Another excellent entry from you. There's something great going on with you and those orcs. Magical atmosphere as well.
Chris56: I like the color scheme and and the blends on armor plates too. Very neat.
ScootyPuffJunior: Very nice weathering effect on that Slave. The chipped paint looks very realistic. Bravo!
Moolet: Overall great paint job, espeacially good blends on the shoulder pads.
Paradigm: That mini is spot on with this month's competiton. True Scoundrel. I only wish you took photos a bit closer to the mini.
I know I voted for at least two more pieces.
Special thanks to Whittlesey40k, ZergSmasher, Bottle, NathanD298, Gulgog TufToof and Midget Gems for commenting on my piece.

I voted for loads of you guys again.
Nevelon - That is a nice job. Love the parrot.
Elbows - Cool bone colour scheme. I know your philosophy is to use a pretty solid basecoat and wash method, but I think you could do with just tidying up the odd area where the wash has pooled too much, but in general these look really great.
Midget Gems - Obviously. That's flipping great, mate.
Chris56 - Cracking Kalibite Warrior. Nice colour scheme and very good painting. Ballsy to post such a zoomed-in photo! Photos that close can be unforgiving for even the best painter, but yours stands up really well.
Modock - A really characterful little diorama.
NathanD298 - Great paintjob. You've really captured her face in particular.
ScootyPuffJunior - I enjoyed your progress updates, and the end result is just fantastic. You'd think it was photoshopped in from a movie still!
Toothgrinder - A good clean paintjob. Quite a nice dynamic mini too.
Moolet - Yay! Super Dungeon Explore! Lovely cloak.
Paradigm - As usual, excellent. You don't need to read it from me again, just take it as red that everything you post in here I find mind-blowing.
Lord Borak - One of the most menacing miniatures I've ever seen.
Great job everyone. Just scrolling back through to check what to write about the ones I voted for, I keep seeing ones that I realise I should have voted for as well! The standard is great in here, and I just love to see the improvement from everyone month on month.

Going by Elbow's 'Rule of Cool', I have to vote for Midgetgems this month - that Orx-Wing is freaking AWESOME...
...thanks to all who said nice things about my mini and an extra-special thanks to everyone for such an incredible sense of camaraderie and absolute minefield of cool interpretations of the theme.
I loved Modok's, Moolet's, Paradigm, Scootypuffjunior and NathanD298's work - really inspiring stuff.
I also really love mrhappyface's conversion - that is super-cool.
Thanks for my first month - I loved it!

Hi all, thanks for all the votes I've got, it's done much better than I expected. Unfortunately I don't have time this month to comment on everyone I'd like to, however,
My votes go for:
Nevelon: I think this has really upped your game... great mini.
Elbows: this scheme really does it for me... nice scheme well executed.
MidgetGems: This is great, not much else to say... As usual, lots of little details that really bring the model to life.
Inevitable faith: I love the colour scheme and the execution of it... bravo.
Modock: This is excellent. Really fantastic, very well done. Perfectly on theme and lovely paint job; some of the palette choices are really inspired.. well done. (My favourite this month).
Nathan D: a great job on a lovely model.
Scootypuff: a very tidy job on an untidy paint job.. if that makes sense... very nice model.
Feltmonkey: beautifully done...
Bottle: oh.. er... I guess this month he has given the rest of us a chance...

Thanks for the comments Modock, Felt, Para, Chris56, Mootlet,
Congrats to everyone that entered. Modock and Nathan, really well deserved 2nd and 3rd, 3rd was such a close battle, 1 vote off a 3 way tie.
Its really cool you guys liked my idea and voted for me, I hoped it would do well but your never sure what the reaction will be. I wanted to keep as much X-Wing as possible but make it look like it would fit in the 40K universe with its chucky guns and GRot2D2 etc
My Ork Star wars collection is steadily growing
