I'm trying to decide on an army, and I've come to a bit of a stopping point between the Space Wolves and the Dark Angels. All suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Dark Angels. On principle, because the Space Wolves are very, very dull.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

What makes them so dull?I figured they'd be the opposite, since unlike the Dark Angels, their models are more distinct from the average Space Marine.

Oh please. Space Wolves have more personality in one character than the Dark Angels have in their whole line up.

Space wolves are the biggest mary sue's to ever mary sue and play like a dog chasing a car on the table.

You should play orks. They're the king of fun. Easy to pick up but tough to master, there's no easy go to formations so list building is probably more important than any other faction.

My vote goes to Space Wolf. Yes, they are Mary Sue, but no one in the 40k universe isn't Mary Sue in a way or an other.

I voted other. I say buy any Space Marine minis you like so this way they can go with the lore you like/love. As a Dark Angel collector it's easy for me to say go with Dark Angels. So go with what the heart tells you. You can do both if you really like both. You don't have to just stop at one. You haven't really said what your play style is. You haven't said what you prefer. Small elite army or huge army. Shooty or assaulty or a combination of all of them.

I'm not really inclined to any particular play style. As long as I don't have to do extremely "cheesy" tactics, it doesn't matter to me.

Cheese is kind of a subjective topic.
*Personally I call it cheese to use allies to get Invisibility for my Wolves.
*For argument's sake I've also had an opponent accuse me of cheese tactics when I stole the initiative on a 2+, Wulfen boosted my fast units across the board and murdered all his Psykers before he could send Invisible Scat Stars after me.
*People who play sub par armies like Orkz consider their army "Difficult to master" and accuse other armies of cheese, owners of those armies just call the Orkz "Weak".

I got a great idea!
Play Blood Angels!
They're not as boring as Dark Angels and will never get the same hate as the Space Wolves and no matter what you do you'll never be accused of cheese...although you will be lumped in with Martel.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I lean more towards DA, hence the reason I chose them as my main army, but the decision is ultimately up to you. My problem with wolves is that their lists almost always gravitate towards a ton of TWC, and I don't really like the model line either. All the wolfy wolf wolf stuff is unappealing as well, just seems sort of overplayed. About as bad as AoS khorne, where everything has blood in the name.

Keep in mind though that I really like bikes and terminators, so RW and DW are the main reason I play DA.

I find space wolves very tiresome with their theme and gameplay. Game wise I find they are so focused on either wulfen or TWC to be good and playing them any other way just comes across as being a weaker version of what the more versatile Dark Angels already do. I vote Dark Angels. Bonus points because it would be really easy to just run them as codex marines if you felt like trying new things.

Both Dark Angels and Space Wolves disappoint me in different ways. Deathwing and Ravenwing both have flaws that are hard to compensate for, and it just feels like Space Wolves missed it with special rules for their units (i.e. Wolfen.)

That said, in general, I find people who play Space Wolves to enjoy their armies more. That's my vote.

Bias time here. This in no way means Space Wolves are no good or inferior. I just love the Dark Angel fluff. I also love their look. I also like if you want to keep things "official" they have 3 colour schemes. So in the case of Space Wolves, everything is not always grey. You can have Deathwing white/off white/bone white what ever you like terminators, or you can have black bikers or green marines. There is also differing play styles as well.

I don't know about Space Wolves someone one said Space Wolves can only be grey but not sure on that. Dark Angles can be any colour if you don't go official. They can be any colour scheme so purple, pink, orange, you name it. It's perfectly viable. As for Space Wolves, I never seen a Space Wolf that wasn't grey or pale blue/grey. So look into that for or if you paint.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Dark Angels got my vote. IMO, the models look better (less fur everywhere) and their fluff is better (less Mary Sue).

Plus they're closet heretics, NO ONE CAN ESCAPE CHAOS! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Im going to say Ultramarines. They are great, you have a TON of options, your guys never miss, and everyone loves blue. Plus Grav Centurions and Tigurius.

Lukas is just the most prominent.
The Dark Angels are boring, so boring they had to have half their number turn traitor and the other half cover it up in an attempt to appear interesting and the most interesting thing about them is still their grudge with the Wolves - talk about riding Coat-Tails.
Sadly no. Lukas' Last Laugh is more of a dry chuckle. You have to get your opponent into a challenge, lose to them then tie or beat them in a roll off and after all that the 7th ed challenge rules seperates the participants from the main melee so you're only getting whoever was stupid enough to accept.
If anything the Wulfen's Death Frenzy is the closest the Woles can get to a proper Last Laugh.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Each Space Wolf has more personality than DA, but the army in general is awfully committed to their theme. Which is fine if you like it I suppose.
DA, like most marines, have a good spread of options and some unique tricks. Making the army more interesting to play.

Go with what ever you like the look and fluff of.

SW have the strike force with the legendary great companies such as blackmanes drop pods and the iron wolves, providing several vastly different ways to play. Between the curse of the wulfen and champions of fenris supplements, SW have been given a lot of love from GW. You have a very large amount of freedom with formations via the space wolves.

As you pointed out before, their models are some or the most decorated when it comes to marines, which is one of the reasons I chose them. You can give each model a load of character. Every grey hunter will seem unique, where with other chapters, each tactical marine is just another rank and file.
