Na not at all really. The real issue is that the President of the US has too much power over the country and one of the parties. Trump is nearly harmless until but he shows that the system is in need for some serious reforms. Just imagine the next guy being an actual competent dangerous guy.

Why aren't both parties agreeing that there has to change something fast?

Interesting development regarding the refugee ban:

Episcopal Church Sues Trump Administration Over Travel Ban

JAMES: Bishop Greg Rickel, who leads the diocese, says the lawsuit is also about asserting the right of a church to practice its faith, in particular the Bible's call for Christians to welcome the stranger.

RICKEL: So welcoming the stranger is a gospel mandate.

JAMES: And what does that mean - welcoming the stranger?

RICKEL: The stranger is someone who we maybe don't know, don't understand, wouldn't usually be around. For us as Christians, we would say the stranger always comes to us as Jesus.

"Feeding poor children is wrong" - GOP 2017

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/fewer-kids-could-receive-free-school-meals-under-house-bill/

House Republicans on Wednesday weighed legislation that could lower the number of students receiving free and reduced-price meals at school.

Legislation debated by the House Education and Workforce Committee aims to save money by scaling back the number of schools in which all students receive free or reduced meals. It would also help schools that say the Obama administration’s healthier meal rules are too restrictive and not appealing enough to students. A proposed Republican amendment to the bill would go even further, allowing a trial period of so-called block grants for school meals in three states. That would mean those states wouldn’t receive unlimited federal dollars for students who qualify for the free and reduced-price lunches.

Hunger and nutrition advocates from the American Academy of Pediatrics to the American Heart Association have sharply criticized the legislation.

“The bill would significantly weaken access to healthy, nutritious foods for our nation’s children,” said Dr. Benard Dreyer, president of the pediatrics group.

So the GOP will be all over this as government intrusions into faith are intolerable! I mean look how upset they were that a multimillion dollar corporation (Hobby Lobby) had to cover birth control; surely this is more egregious?

Oh wait, it's not Obamacare, abortion, or anti-gay...... Nevermind.

What we're the riots about? Are they anti-Trump? Anti-police? Anti-Sweden?

The CNN article wasn't too informative as to motives, other than noting these riots happened after Trumps faux pas, the area was an immigrant area with high unemployment, and the police were cracking down on criminals in the area.

That seems to be roughly the same arrangement we have with our king. Pay no taxes, have some fun at parties and when he gets caught being involved in some dubious affairs somebody else has to fix it or take the blame. Nothing wrong there.
But does he also have some unchecked political power

Who says it's anything like that?

It's not unheard of for minority communities that have been consistently targeted by police, justly or unjustly, to riot/protest when one of their own is arrested. Even if that person is known by the rioters/protesters to be a criminal.

From what it looks like police went after a guy they had a warrant for and other people took exception. A decent segment of the population in the area is now calling for the rioters to piss off and stop destroying people's livelihoods. Kan thus seems to be spot on.

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/fewer-kids-could-receive-free-school-meals-under-house-bill/

More from the OP article:

The block grant provision, included in an amendment by Rep. Todd Rokita of Indiana, even prompted opposition from the School Nutrition Association, which has called for major changes in the school meal standards put in place in recent years and championed by first lady Michelle Obama.

The group, which represents school nutrition directors and the companies that sell food to schools, called the block grant idea “reckless” and said it would be a first step toward eliminating the federal guarantee that all children have access to the nutrition they need at school.

Another article on the legislation:

http://www.indystar.com/story/news/politics/2016/05/18/rokitas-bill-restrict-eligibility-free-school-lunches-advances/32617283/
For the past two years, schools could offer free meals to all students if at least 40 percent were already receiving certain other types of government assistance. Rokita’s bill would raise that requirement to 60 percent.

When 40 percent of students automatically qualify for free meals because of their eligibility for other programs, an estimated two-thirds of all students would qualify if their household incomes were individually checked, according to advocates. Allowing schoolwide meals removes the administrative burden on schools to verify incomes for each student and makes qualified children more likely to be fed, they argue.

Republicans said the change would better allocate limited resources, and the savings of about $300 million a year would be redirected to other nutrition programs for kids.

But Republicans also rejected an amendment by Rep. Glenn Grothman, R-Wis., to raise the threshold to 80 percent. Grothman said the average person would agree that, even if 90 percent of a school’s students are poor, the school shouldn’t provide free meals to everyone, because a millionaire’s child might benefit.

“We’re creating a culture in which parents no longer consider themselves responsible for their own children," Grothman said.

So the Republicans want to set higher limits for schools to meet to qualify for school wide free lunches paid for with federal funding, that's nothing to get outraged about. Why should the Feds pay for free lunches for 100% of the student body when less than half of the student body actually qualifies for free lunches? That's just buying food that won't get eaten. Of course the companies that profit from that over buying will complain but that's because it affects their bottom line not because of any altruistic motive to help children. Setting the standard that 60% of the student body has to qualify for free lunches in order for the school to get Federal funding to offer free lunches to everybody isn't going to deprive kids from eating free lunches. If 53% of the student body qualifies for free lunches then the school should get funding to feed that 53% and those students will get free lunches. Not getting Federal funds to offer free lunches to the 47% of students that don't need it doesn't hurt that students that do get the free lunches.

Every year we have to fill out the forms for our kids so the school can know if they qualify for free lunches, our kids never do, we send them to school with a lunchbox of food and we let them buy a lunch in the cafeteria once a week if they want to. There's no reason for the Feds to buy our kids free lunches or for other kids that don't need them. Schools require parents to fill out the school lunch forms so the schools can actually process those forms and determine what percentage of the student body qualifies for free lunches and if the threshold is met then the Feds can pay for all students to get free lunches.

The block grants to fund school lunches is a test program that would only affect 3 states not the whole country.

Increasing funding for free breakfasts doesn't take food away from kids either. Our school offers free breakfast every day and we have to remind our kids to abstain because they'll come home with uneaten fruits and vegetables in their lunchboxes because they go to the cafeteria before class and get free cinnamon rolls and muffins. Setting funding levels to fit the specific needs of the schools' student bodies makes much more sense than simply setting low bars to qualify for Federal funding for extra food that is unlikely to be eaten.

It is because you changed your legal definition of rape to include lots of things that previously were not counted as rape, consequently there was an increase in the rape crime figures at a time that right wing Americans were looking for a reason to attack Muslim immigration and tied this increase in rape to the increase in immigration by Muslim people.

Milo Yiannopoulos Resigns From Breitbart.
Milo Yiannopoulos, the conservative polemicist whose endorsement of pedophilia instigated outrage over the weekend, resigned on Tuesday from Breitbart News, the hard-right news and opinion website where he was a longtime editor.

“I would be wrong to allow my poor choice of words to detract from my colleagues’ important job, which is why today I am resigning from Breitbart, effective immediately,” Mr. Yiannopoulos said at a news conference.

“This decision is mine alone,” he said.

Mr. Yiannopoulos’s resignation followed days of tumult that intensified over the weekend after a conservative group called the Reagan Battalion posted a video that showed him condoning sexual relations between men and boys as young as 13 and jokingly dismissing the gravity of pedophilia by Roman Catholic priests.

On Monday, the organizers of the Conservative Political Action Conference revoked its invitation for Mr. Yiannopoulos to speak this week, and the publisher Simon & Schuster said it was canceling the publication of his book, “Dangerous.”

Appearing in rented office space in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday, Mr. Yiannopoulos, in a sober suit and red tie, was both contrite and defiant. He apologized for his remarks, “I don’t think I’ve been as sorry about anything my whole life,” but also said he had been the victim of a “witch hunt” by detractors trying to derail his career.

He said that he would move forward with publishing a book, saying other publishers were interested, and that he was planning to start a media venture of his own. “I’m proud to be a warrior for free speech and creative expression,” Mr. Yiannopoulos said, adding, “I’m not going anywhere.”

Mr. Yiannopoulos’s announcement was met with glee in some quarters and dismay in others. Some commenters on Breitbart.com expressed disappointment that the site had severed ties with one of its marquee provocateurs, suggesting the site had given in to pressure from liberal critics.

But within the Breitbart newsroom, there was a sense that Mr. Yiannopoulos had gone too far in his remarks on pedophilia. Alex Marlow, Breitbart’s editor in chief, called the comments “indefensible” and “appalling” during his radio program on Tuesday morning. One staff member said that while many of his colleagues were pained to see their site under attack, they believed that Mr. Yiannopoulos’s extreme remarks had given him no choice but to leave.

In the past, Breitbart steadfastly defended Mr. Yiannopoulos even after he made provocative, critical statements about Muslims, transgender people, immigrants and women’s rights. Even on Tuesday, the site still offered a degree of support.

In a statement on Tuesday, Breitbart News praised Mr. Yiannopoulos’s “bold voice,” adding, in words sure to inflame some liberals, that the provocateur “has sparked much-needed debate on important cultural topics confronting universities, the L.G.B.T.Q. community, the press, and the tech industry.”

On his program, Mr. Marlow also defended Mr. Yiannopoulos, saying there was no evidence Mr. Yiannopoulos had acted as a sexual predator and that he had been a victim of a “coordinated hit” by liberal groups intent on hurting his ascent.

“There seems to be growing evidence that this was all coordinated to wait for a peak moment when Milo was red-hot,” Mr. Marlow said. “They sat on this story and they held it for maximum political damage.”

This is not the first time that Mr. Yiannopoulos, a staunch defender of the so-called alt-right — a far-right fringe movement that embraces white nationalism and a range of racist and anti-immigrant positions — and an avid supporter of President Trump, has inspired outrage. His lectures on college campuses have been met with protests that have at times turned violent. Several weeks ago, his planned speech at the University of California, Berkeley, was canceled after rioters set fires and smashed windows. (The cancellation, in turn, prompted a debate about free speech while also drawing a rebuke from Mr. Trump on Twitter.)

The board of the American Conservative Union, which decided to rescind Mr. Yiannopoulos’s speaking invitation, denounced his comments on Monday, calling them “disturbing.” At Breitbart, staff members debated whether he should be allowed to remain. “It was something that was a total surprise to people in the Breitbart organization,” Mr. Marlow said on the radio program.

Mr. Yiannopoulos tried to explain his comments in posts on his Facebook page, saying he was a victim of his own “British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor,” but his explanations appeared to have little effect.
