If theres one thing I dont do, its rest.

Pics were taken outside in daylight, so do forgive the variances in between them. No more big stuff for a while please!

That's amazing! Love the effect on the armour plates

These Warlords are just...

...and goodness me, what a paintjob! The blue almost lizard skin-like armour plates are incredible. I aslso like the red dust that has been kicked up around the feet, and the weathered metallics. Excellent work!

Thanks guys. The client had a pretty specific look he was going for, so Im glad it came out on point.

Sigh.
I used to try to find the biggest meanest books I could get since I hated for stories to end (1000+ pages or long series of books).

So when you like putting together models and painting, those brutes are the equivalent.
One day when I have money that will not be missed, that titan will be mine.
I know, yeah I can go paint a REAL car but we are talking about non-practical stuff.

Oh yeah, REALLY good paint job!
Guys that big are the entire reason I got an airbrush: so those big open areas can be given justice.
Weathering is not something I like to do but they are supposed to be ancient and something you deploy when things really hit the fan so the summer vintage sportscar they are not.

Something like this you could spend an unending amount of time on for sure. In this case, it was not so bad and unlike the previous charity Warlord I worked on, Forgeworld sent the entire kit the FIRST time, so it was a lot faster.

Its also the first time Ive used a stencil in well over a year, I had made this one previously for a Tyranid project and thankfully kept it around.

That's lovely. Job like that would take me months.

Yeeeea but I think we'd have quite a different result.

That is a beautiful job you have pulled off there. Strong work!

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against the inevitable. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the darkness comes for you.

Great texture on the plates. It almost looks like crocodile scales, very interesting effect

Well, it looks like you took it pretty far: the stencil really draws the eye.
I really like something as "simple" as the stripes on the legs, I really like the transitions in them.
I find many artists go a little nuts with the "glow" effects with airbrush: yours "make sense" and is little enough to be subtle.
You sure like to make the heat sinks/vents glow to make it look like it did some unholy unloading on the enemy.
I assume the red at the feet is to be the dust of mars?
Yeah, one could get lost in the details of that gauntlet: that is a fine piece of work.
The platform at the back just begs for me to make a "docking" platform.
I looked a little closer at the back of the legs: how that all goes together is giving me the willies.
I keep thinking carving rod through the middle of all that for structural support is the way to go.

Dare I ask how many hours:
Prep.
Assembly (or lack there-of for painting).
Tons of masking or largely freehand stencil? (Just trying to place you on "mad skills", "methodical" or an unholy blend of both).

It was an odd request but I do like how it turned out. Theres so many ways of doing that model, its hard to go wrong.

Assembly was about 2.5 days, I used JB weld a lot and it has a long curing time so a lot of that was just setting it then waiting. The only masking was for the stripes, and I painted in the squares in between lines for the checkerpatterns.

The stencil was all free hand and I run two air brushes at the same time, so that goes extremely fast without the need to switch in and out of colors. I dont think any mad skill is required in something like this, just faithful execution and a procedural
approach which I think is really common among commission painters.

The two freehand shields were a little under two hours, but they werent anything too extensive, so nothing on the Titan was in and of itself a hassle.

Using JB weld is really smart for such a huge / heavy model! I once reattached a friend's car bumper primarily using that stuff so it is legit! Just a bit too messy to use on small models, I think.

One of the better warlord titan I've seen, the only part I would add is a black wash on the metallic trims, too much silver imo.

Any images of inner detail?

No, he did not want the internals done.

The silver actually does have a wash on it, the pics are all out in daylight and the light washed that bit out.

I like its consistency a lot, and I used those fine point q-tips for application in some areas that makes me think that it actually could be used if you were so inclined on smaller models, at least on forgeworld stuff. But at that point, I think its a bit overkill.

But given its properties and the fact that it draws itself to the magnets, for magnet application its super awesome.

What's JB weld? Epoxy resin adhesive? Not seen it this side of the pond. We have Araldite. :-)

J-B Weld is The Original Cold Weld two-part epoxy system that provides strong, lasting repairs to metal and multiple surfaces. Mixed at a ratio of 1:1, it forms a permanent bond and can be shaped, tapped, filed, sanded and drilled after curing. At room temperature, J-B Weld sets in 4-6 hours to a dark grey color. A full cure is reached in 15-24 hours. J-B Weld has a tensile strength of 3960 PSI and sets to a hard bond overnight. It can withstand temperatures up to 550ºF when fully cured.

Wait, can you explain on this part? Is it slightly ferric?

On Topic, first of the Lucius head's I've seen outside of FW. Looks good.

I think its quite good.

I really like the OSL, it looks incredibly realistic.

However, Not sure about the OSL on the feet? It kinda sticks out for me.

No OSL on the feet, do you mean the red martian dust?
