The first storm is gathering book supplied us with a cool list of for all to use Relics if you included the characters.
Does the rise of the primarch has the same sort of relics if you use any of the characters in the book ?

Leaked page for relics Here

Nice looking set. Doesn’t list restrictions on who can take them, but the blurb at the top suggests Ultras only to me. Probably more rules on another page.

I wonder if sisters players will complain that they have to share and the UM don't... :p

Do you want us too? But why bother when there are so many other ares that GW favours the marines over all other Imeprial Factions - Formations, Special Characters etc

Then there is the fact that the Living Saint does not have Acts of Faith so if she joins a Sisters squad they can't use thier AOF FFS

To answer the OP yes tehre are Relics and only (Ultra)marines can use them - one thing is that the page now confirms ONE relic per model - no exceptions.

Indeed (and agreed re Tau) but interesting they stated it specifically in book 2 and 3 but not 1 - maybe it was sorted after the faq and they thought - oh yeah be good to follwo the faq as people ask.

Wow, those are good. 35 points for EW and FNP? Guard have to pay that just for EW.

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

Not quite.

The Cloak is EW and IWND for 35p
The Halo is Admant. Will and FNP for 15p.

So we can’t get both EW and FNP on the same relic.

Overall I’m loving them.

The cloak is a solid addition to make any HQ tougher. If you are willing to ride the 4++ of an iron halo over the 3++ of a storm shield/sheild eternal, you can go full blender with two weapons.

30 points for the helm that gives PE(everything)? Sign me up. PE confers to the unit. While the re-roll to hit is not as critical for Ultras due to all the doctrines, it’s on all the time, and the to-wound rolls are nice. Might need to ask the FAQ guys if the buffed PE vs. chaos marines also confers to the unit. It does say “he”

FNP is always nice to have, and 15 points is not a lot to pay for the halo.

The sword is 5 more points then a normal powersword, and that gets you AP2 at I. Not too shabby.

Banner is nice, but kinda pricy. Not sure I’d bother to upgrade from the chapter banner.

Stormbolter is cut off in the pic, so I have no idea what it does. From the fluff bit, it looks like more shots and then something like fleshbane or shred. Depending on the specifics, it might be worth the 20 points. At the very least, when I field my old 3rd ed captain with a SB/sword combo, I can give him a decent gun. I suspect it will end up like the Primarch’s Wrath. Not bad, but not great either.

Stormbolter is

Range 24", S1, AP 5 Assault 4, Posion 2+

Not bad. Interesting contrast with the Primarch’s Wrath.

Assault 4 vs. Salvo 3/5. Probably a wash there. Relentless platforms will favor the salvo, foot/jump the assault.
S4 Shred vs. S1 Poison 2+. Most of the time the poison is going to be better IMHO.
For when it matters, the AP4 on the Wrath is a big deal. For the rest of the time (which should be most of it) it’s not a huge deal. Most of the things demanding a HQ’s attention have with a better save, or an irrelevant one.
The Wrath is MC, which is a nice little boost if you don’t have other sources of re-rolls. Which Ultras generally don’t lack.

Of course the major advantage is that you can field WYSWYG stormbolters and not feel like you are pissing points away on useless upgrades.

And lifted straight from the Blood Angel's relics (How much of their stuff is going to be appropriated by the "vanilla" codex marines?)

That's probably the nicest part about all these range weapon relics is that it doesn't feel like wasted points as much. Yeah a Combi-Melta ain't great, but Traitor's Bane at least gives you infinite Melta shots.

To be fair, what options do you have when you want to make a slightly better then normal power sword? You could tack one of the mediocre special rules on it, maybe add a point of S. But AP is where the action is. Not a whole lot of room to work with if you want a low end relic. Which I actually prefer to the 50+ point monster ones; much more likely to work it into a list.
