Is that 10 points of recruiting cost for the heavy the first errata of the game?

I was kind of wondering about that myself. Almost certainly should be 100.

If it is really that cheap, I will be getting two copies. The terrain is great, and I could always use more Scouts. This would allow me to have two squads each of Sniper and chapter focused (Bolter for Crimson Fists and BP/CCW Blood Angels). Lots of Orks for basing, I guess.

If it comes with the rules for a ton of units, that would be awesome as well.

I'd wait and see how much the 10 point Neophyte Heavy pays for the 'Heavy' weapon...

But he can be equipped with special weapons just like the initiate and has the same stat line... so if this is correct, just spam heavies even if you don't actually equip them with heavy weapons.

THERE IS A MOVEMENT STAT!

Haven't seen one of those this side of 40K for a decade and a half. That will allow for more finesse among different models.

Necromunda Heavy was 10pt more than a regular Ganger (50 vs 60pts), so this is most probably an "upgrade to Heavy" cost, not a baseline cost.

But it most certainly looks like they are actually reusing old Necromunda "engine" for this game. Very, very good

Take a look also at what you can read on the left. Talks about an "initiative range". I don't remember that from Necromunda so they are definitely adding some new things as well.

1.) The Neophyte Heavy is the only one with access to the Heavy Weapon. 2.) The Neophyte Hybrid is a 'Trooper' while the Neophyte Heavy is a 'Specialist'. I imagine you'll only be able to take a limited number of 'Specialists', which you may not want to waste by not giving them a weapon from the Heavy Weapon list.

I haven't seen the rules yet, so I'm not jumping to conclusions.

There was an mechanic in 2E where units could choose to hide in their turn, and would only be spotted and become targetable if an enemy unit got within it's initiative range (in inches).

Movement Stat makes me think this is the prelude to 8th Edition. Really cool if true.

Initiative range is used to determine if you can hear/see hidden models. It is a part of the old Necromunda engine.

Fair enough. I am not familiar with Necromunda's ruleset.

This proof of using the old ruleset also means, that old Gangs/Campaign/Vechicle rules and add-on Necromunda books will probably be very straightforward to readapt to Shadow Wars and point level of 40K "gangs" look so close to original point levels, that games of "proper Necromunda gangs" vs any current faction squads should be totally possible

Its been awhile since I've played. Cool deal. Looks like they really are using the old Necro rules to good effect then.

Perhaps not laugh, but sencere WTF moment on my part. So a word of advice for anyone and everyone, who never got to play Necromunda or 2nd ed proper - forget anything and everything you think you know about 40K in context of Shadow Wars. If they have realy done everything old-school, you have to relearn almost everything, from movement, through shooting, up to totally different CC phase. And completely different in-game "worth" of stat values.

Can we lay the "But it's not Necromunda" gak to rest now? No? Of course not.

Good for you. Sorry not everyone has every Necromunda rule memorized.

Anyways, I'm glad they are reusing them. Its been awhile since I've played but I always enjoyed the ruleset. If they implement the campaign in almost the same way it would be even better!

Nice to see confirmation of GS cults. Fingers crossed for the other hybrids and purstrains, as well. Hopefully the DW will be in there as well.

I'm pretty sure those are stacks of counters off to the side, not barrels.

Of course not. It's not Necromunda. It's "Shadow War: Armageddon".

If it were Necromunda, it'd feature, well, y'know, Necromunda, not Armageddon, and be about the gangs of Necromunda, not every 40K race under the sun somehow being in a single hive on Armageddon.

Sharing rules doesn't make it the other game. For a time 40K and Fantasy had a common rules base. The Fantasy one came first, but that didn't mean that 40K was Fantasy.

Can't we settle on calling it Schrödinger War: Armageddon, which is and is not Necromunda at the same time?

Except the Specialist and Leader is always "cheap" because they're your "mandatory" takes, and have limited slots.

It could be that way. That's not how it was in Necromunda, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything either.
