Classic stuff. Has anyone done the cost evaluation on that board above?

This was from one of the first few White Dwarfs I ever read back in 1997ish. If memory serves correct it was done by a guy in the UK who used 'corking' as an adjective a lot in the article.

Huh?

Latest WD just arrived. Each faction has Special Operatives - I am guessing you get them when fighting against a larger team. One of the ones for Stealer Cults is a Purestrain. He moves 6", but can triple his movement when running or charging. Also has a funky jump rule that could potentially exceed this.

One of my goliaths has this (once a fight) in our current campaign and it's rather tough to stop. Purestrains are going to be nasty!

So it sounds like they come with the 'Sprint' and 'Leap' skills from Necromunda. I guess that means we can take a good stab at what other skills are going to be like.

What's all included in the list for Genestealer Cults? Can you have a mage and all? or is it just the troop types plus genestealers?

The ability is called Preternatural Agility.

The other 2 options are Acolyte Hybrid (first or second gen), who halves the distance to spot him when hiding. And Hybrid Metamorph, who seems to come with loads of arms, can get extra Rending Claws or Metamorph Talon, Metamorph Claw or Metamorph Whip. Also gets +2 when charging instead of the normal +1.

The Skitarii get a Techpriest Enginseer, a Ruststalker and an Infiltrator.

I don't suppose these extras come as tear-outs or as a separate little booklet?

You could tear them out....... But I suspect they are simply extracts from the box content. The Community website has been very good at publishing this kind of stuff as well.

The article seems to be there to wet one's appetite. It's very detailed, has 1.5 pages of points, 2 of equipment rules and 1.5 of extras - for each of the 2 factions featured. Gives the advance table charts (though not the skill lists themselves).

These will probably become available on the GW site soon either way, much like warscrolls from AoS.

It's both stackable (all the kits are synced both length- and heightwise) and made to be 100% compatible with recent kits like the Haemothrope Reactor and the Prometheum Pipes. For example, a haemothrope reactor goes perfectly on top of one of the new platforms, and the prometheum pipes are the same length as the new walkways. They show lots of examples in the WD. Easily the most modular terrain GW has ever made.

The stuff in the WD will be available as a PDF this coming Saturday on GW's website. They've said ten full faction PDFs, with equipment, advancement tables, points costs, etc... will all be going up on that day (with supposedly more to come down the road).

My only MINOR concerns right now...

1. The official trade release for Shadow War mentioned "some between game advancement"... "Some" makes me a touch nervous.

2. I hope the scenarios are good, or we can easily port the Outlander, etc... ones over from Necromunda for diversity-sake. Campaign games really need IMO a diversity of scenarios to stay fun.

It also can go with the void shield generator and possibly the city of death manufacturum which has a connection piece for the piperelay.

I wasn't a fan of the hemotrope reactors but I may need to pick them up now.

Would you mind sharing the equipment options listed for the Skitarii and GSC?

For example does Skitarii have access to weapons other than they have in the codex entries? I've been building small factions for each, but I'm now hesitant to build too much without knowing the wargear options available.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

I actually built one of those for myself for Necromunda, the original was such an awesome inspiration! Mine had fun little things like a freight elevator you could crank up and down.

I'm afraid that's a bit too much info/

The odd pic/snippet is fair enough but we cannot allow that level of info dumoing.

Sorry.

I bought 2 boxes of Skitarii when they first came out with grand plans for an army, that fizzled out. So I'll definitely be putting together a gang of them.

Are there any regular tyranids in the game? Like a bunch of different gaunts lead by a warrior?

I suspect it will be a d6 roll halved rounding down. Scores of nought, Jam. Unless, of course, you have an old set.

Yes. The 'Nid list was one of the first announced. Warriors make up their Leader/Specialist options, and Gaunts/Gants iirc, fill out the rest.

Edit: Did anyone notice that they depict Skitarii Weapons as devastating, but almost difficult to maintain? Their ammo rolls are almost ALL 5+/6+ meaning they're expensive to keep armed, and easy to go out-of-ammo.

Cool .. then I'll be able to gangs of Skitarii, GSC, Nids, and if I keep the models marines and orcs too. I like how for most armies you can just pick up a box of regular troops or command squad and be able to build decent a gang, or just take a few models out of your collection.
