I personally love a nice plastic kit with a bunch of fiddly bits to customize things with. The chapter specific Marine kits are definitely good for that. My favourite used to be the Tyranid Warrior kit, they were very fun to build and kit out.

I really like the Flash Gitz box. I bought a couple of them. I haven't actually put any together yet, but every once in a while I pull out the sprues and laugh.

Deathwatch Veterans kit, few things can match the level of custom minis you can get out of it, the only thing it lacks is chainswords which are usually laying around anyway. I love this kit.

Could I say the Dark Vengeance set?

I know, I'm terrible as a CSM player that doesn't like modeling/converting/kitbashing. I just don't that part of the hobby converting or making use of left over bits.. Especially when they get to well past the point of getting 33% or more troops instead (looking at you Raptors/Warp Talons). Although, I would have liked more clawed feet for the Maulerfiend/Forgefiend as I plan on magnetizing it to have both option available. I had to use the hoofs for the back most feet instead. I don't like them as much, and now they are only constant feet of the model.

I know I am in the minority here, but just starting out, I want more bodies than bling. It wouldn't be as much of an issue if it weren't so expensive.

I still clipped everything out as I might Chaos up some terrain. Plus I have an idea of creating independent CSM standards as either objectives, scatter terrain or adding to squads to denote icon use and who is the bearer. Barring that, if I come across another player that can make better use of it, I might just give it to them.

Either the Deathwatch Vets, or the SM Sternguard Vets. Both kits have so many fantastic bits and bobs in them. I didn't even build the Sternguard, but I used the entire kit to bling out every Sarge and Company Master in my army. The DW kit, likewise, had a ton of great parts that really allowed a lot of customization. I literally used every bit from both kits.

PAGK. Most Space Marine models are fairly monopose, but with these guys you've got open hands, lots of permutations of weapon arms, and with a bit of creativity and a saw you can set the legs up to get some awesome active poses you don't usually see in this game.

And you will never run out of swords again. I didn't think there was such a thing as too many swords before I started putting my GK army together.

So far gotta say I absolutely loved the Exalted Sorcerers box! So many bits and customization potential. In the past though I've always loved both the CSM box and the SM terminators boxes a lot.
Honorable mention goes to the celestant prime for being a super fun kit to build, though limited in customization options.

The Riptide is surprisingly fun to build. Goes together really well and has an amazing amount of pose ability and options on where to mount the secondary weapons.

I'll be cheeky here and say the combined chaos terminator lord and terminators kit. The lord and terminators are cool models, but better when you get the extra chaos lord bits for the terminators. Suddenly you have lightning claws, an extra axe if you want to keep them cheap, an extra fist and chainfist if you want to max out fists. Whatever you use on the lord you'll have useful weapon arms left over for the unit

I really like the current tyranid warriors kit.

The most interesting kit to me (that I haven't used before) is probably the chaos spawn box. That looks like a lot of fun, and I imagine you could build a dozen spawn without any looking too similar

My favorite kit with the most variation is the ork bikers kit as with some messing about you can have 10-15 bikers without looking too similar

Any of the Dark Eldar plastic kits, they all have so many bits and pieces for customisation it's brilliant. The newer Tyranid kits are the same.

Scions. If you build them with hotshots you get a bunch of special weapons for veterans, plus all the beret heads to build vet kits. Then they have a bunch of knives and grenades and bags and water canteens. In general really cool looking models with a ton of bling you can use for veterans, and the absolute coolest looking power fist in the game as well as the beautiful tempestor prime.
