In honesty, there is nothing to stop you creating Dragonfly style back-wings. Even in insects, the wings aren't counted in the limbs (otherwise bees would have 10 limbs), so mounting Dragonfly style wings would not break the 6-limb Nids rule. It would look very odd however, although if you could implement a beetle like design where the carapace opens up into the wings, with a squishy bit underneath... Although from a design perspective this would be bad, as most of the winged Nids are either very important and so should not have exposed Squishybits (Hive Tyrant, Harpy, Crone, Shrikes, Harrdian) or are already extremely squish (Gargoyles, Sky-slashers) so shouldn't be made squishier.

Giving Tyranids insect style wings would make them look like the flying aliens from starship troopers movies.

That is awesome (but he is still using the traditional replace limb slots method)

Yeah not bad. I'd probably try and hack off the "vents" on the Tyrants back and attach them there.

There are lots of ways to do it, just an example
