To be fair they're up against it now, what with the daemon primarches and their armies, the increased threat of Thrakka (still awaiting the new buggies etc) and seemingly an increase in tyranid activity, plus they lost a lot during the gathering storm, they need to be in a position to take the fight to the enemies of the imperium now.

I believe this is the quote from Hastings that started it all.

Starting this thread for further discussion of the rumored new ork buggies and other releases, since the original rumor got buried amidst other discussions and there doesn't seem to be any other threads discussing it.

Apparently there will be a Thraka themed release with these kits (among others) included

I remember there was this tidbit late last year. As no-new Sisters vehicles ever surfaced, this could perhaps lend credence to the idea that new Ork vehicles are indeed coming soon?

I'll drop this here since I'm not sure it merits its own thread. (we really need a kind of 40k catch all for all the little rumour snippits)
Tom Walton who worked on many 40k vehicles is active on twitter. He mentioned that has in the office doing overtime sculpting minis for an army he has never worked on before.
30 minutes of Google fu later I have it narrowed down to Aos (he does vehicles so unlikely) nids (organic so unlikely) orks or sisters. So new ork or sisters vehicles incoming then.

Someone more dedicated than I could scour his twitter account for further clues.

Do we have a list of the projects Mr. Walton has worked on in the past?

All I've been able to find is that he did the new leman russ, drop pods and the baneblade, etc. Since those were all derivative designs, it's hard to judge how good he is. Frankly, I'd rather have whoever did the rest of the recent ork vehicles to do anything new, because they are substantially better than the average GW vehicle design.

I wonder if we'll get a resurrection of Gorkamorka?

I can see a boxed set of Gorkamorka just to provide a cheap way to amass a handful of new Ork vehicles if they go that route.

One of the FW books has a schematic of an orc buggy that looked pretty good. I'd be happy if that was used as a starting point.

Could be a way to release some new ork models, and a bunch of ork specific terrain, preferably compatible with Cities of Death/ Shadows of Armageddon terrain sets.

Proper plastic ork terrain is the last piece I need for one of my game boards. I've also held on buying defkoptas or buggies due to expecting new models soon.

Obvious April Fools post. The existing buggies have served us and served us well for nearly 20 years, I can't believe GW would.tamper with a winning formula.

As for Walton I'd point out AoS just got a whole slew of vehicles.

He said he didn't work on those on twitter, so that mystery is still unanswered.

Here's hoping - those models are desperately in need of an update...
