Hey mates. While I have a plan for a 40k Army, I would like to field a Space Marine Army as well, but one where I can use model's for both 30k and 40k games. I like to play aggressive over defensive, and I M debating between the following Legions to field:

* Raven Guard: Easy to paint, lot of speed, have some of the best Jump Infantry in Dark Fury Squads, and are a great Drop Pod force, Primarch kind of a sad emo but has an awesome model.

* White Scars: Awesome background, utilize aggressive tactics through Bikes, Drop Pods, Speeders, etc., seem to be fielded less then most legions making then unique, bad ass Primarch who doesn't take Frack from anyone.

* Imperial Fists: Effective Chapter/Legion rules due to skill with Bolters, great Terminators that get Assault Cannons, very flexible tactics, solid across the board, and can field the badass Sigismund with Templar Brethren. Dorn is a cool Primarch for the most part.

* Blood Angels: Awesome rules for Jump Infantry, access to Flamer and Inferno Pistols, stand out on the tabletop, Sanguinius is an awesome Primarch. Don't know a lot about them but am intrigued.

Basically that's who I am debating on going atm. Have considered the World Eaters as I could always use different Chapter Tactics in 40k games but not sure. Appreciate any feedback and advice on each Legion mentioned. Particularly the White Scars if I'm honest.

Well, White Scars and Blood Angels are missing a lot of their units and full rules, so they might be better to wait out.

I really like Imperial Fists - very good neutral play, strong play with shields (which I am a big fan of) and have one of the best challengers in the game (Sigismund). Dorn is also pretty solid as well.

If you like the White Scars, go for them, and stock up on bikes and fast units!

Would you not consider traitor legions ?

I would. However in don't know a lot about them and from what I understand the ones that utilize aggressive tactics are the Luna Wolves and the World Eaters so one of those would work.

As for the 4x Legions mentioned above, while I am leaning towards the White Scars I am intrigued with the BA and RG as well. What's the story with those Legions? Imperial Fists are pretty generic for the most part so it's not hard to see what they are about lol.

Night lords and Word bearers could also be considered for aggressive traitor legions.

you should read up on the fluff for most of the legions then you'll better understand the stories and tactics behind each one which will then make your decision on choosing a legion easier as then you can pick which one you like and not which one the internet tells you that you'll like.... i hope that makes sense

Iron warriors were also said to be extremely aggressive after breaching fortifications in the fluff and rules wise and be said to be pretty darn scary running the Ironfire rite of war, literally marching across the board while pinpoint accurate artillery rains down around them.

Their not super close combat efficient but geared correctly they can hold their own and would have to be wiped out to keep them from advancing up the board since they won't suffer moral from shooting. I know personally once my mastodon arrives I'll be loading it with close combat vets or assault marines and unleash them while the board around them burns! Muhahaha!

The enemies of Mankind may employ dark sciences or alien weapons beyond Humanity's ken, but such deviance comes to naught in the face of honest human intolerance back by a sufficient number of guns.

Salamanders can be pretty aggressive too.

Fearless, they may reroll one die for Morale and Pinning tests, Firedrake Terminators with two wounds and Storm Shields, their Praetors get Eternal Warrior for cheap, and Storm Shields like the Firedrakes, etc.

Also with the Covenant of Fire ROW they all get move through cover, which you could use in tandem effectively with Dedicated Transports, Firedrakes, Assault Marines w/Jump Packs, Dreadnoughts, and with Legion Outriders (Makes Charging easier to setup).

And Vulkan, Cassiun Dracos, and Lord Chaplain Nomus Rhy'tan are all pretty damn powerful when it comes to close combat!

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Every legion can be aggressive. You should consider how aggrssive you can be and what form that agression takes.

Your selection looks like 'Very Fast' and 'Melee' more than anything else.
To this end, consider the White Scars.

An interesting alternative, that hasn't been suggested are the Dark Angels in either Ironwing or Ravenwing Protocol. Easy painting, powerful challenging characters with the Terranic Greatsword, fast in Ironwing, and very fast in Ravenwing.
Ironwing makes you very good at disembarking and boltering things to death. Ravenwing also gives easy access to unit-wide radgrenades.
