Where do you think Farsight's journey will take him next?

He learned about Chaos, lost faith in the Ethereals, and betrayed the Tau Empire.

The last updates we have on him see him saving the Tau Empire, learning the truth about Aun'va but keeping it secret aand then returning to defend the Enclaves from yet another Tyranid assault.

I wonder what the Ethereals know about Chaos.

They know a hell of a lot more about the Ruinous Powers and the Warp than they tell the other castes.

yup. But apparently they trusted the DE too much. Chaos corrupted Tau would be something new.

Just give it a few thousand years and a bit more exposure to the Warp. You can bet that Chaos will start to take more of an interest by then. (That is if the Tau and Chaos Gods are still around by then).

You mean Tau?

The hidden truth is that all Tau are secretly serving Chaos through the the Chaos-controlled Ethereals, who the Dark Gods are using to stir up war and violence. Over time, they will assimilate other races and parts of humanity and lead them to the "Greater Good" path to damnation. Because only heretics side with Xenos.

They didn't trust the DE. They needed assistance against Tyranids but refused outright to give any Ethereals in the "cultural exchange". A lot of Imperial Governors would likely have made the same deal and they aren't exactly the trusting sort.

You think Imperial governors would have handed over men to the DE?

Eldar are Eldar, and Eldar have been known to have grudging alliances with Imperium. Mostly for their own benefit, but if it helps save worlds then why not? And while Imperial Governors would be unlikely to hand over men, likely because it would be the governor, his friends and family on the line, but enemies? Sure, take 'em! And an Inquisitor, barring Ultra-Puritans, are pragmatic enough that they'd probably take the deal, albeit with fingers crossed because they know the Eldar would betray them.

haha, that's utterly diabolical, handing heretics over to the Dark Eldar

There have been several tales where they have.

It is mainly paying protection monies..

The DE threaten them with mass violence unless they provide them with slaves.. So the authorities do so, until the DE get bored and raid the planet anyway.

DE have been doing this for a long long time.. there is a HH book where the Spacewolves rock up to a world that had been copping this for years

Pretty good way to get rid of the governor's undesirables though.

Right, but the DE demanded certain numbers of Tau from every caste. They likely would've demanded a similar deal from humans, so just emptying the prisons and handing the undesirables over to the DE wouldn't have worked.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

The Tau point blank refused to hand over the Ethereals. The Dark Eldar still helped (initially anyway). The governor may be able to shield their own immediate circles, at least. There's no indication the Tau handed over high ranking members of the Castes. It all depends on the Dark Eldar in question anyway. Some may have more harsh terms for their assistance.

Perhaps, but humans by and large don't have breeds like the Tau.

And they also don't give that many feths. If they needed to trade 10 Guardsmen, 3 techpriests, a rogue trader, a governor's cousin, and a handful of Navy personnel, they'd do so in a heartbeat.

Maybe not in a heartbeat, but the humans in power would probably be fine with trading a few certain individuals to save the rest of the people in the area. The problem is that many of the sorts of people that the DE would find interesting and exotic enough to trade for are the sorts of humans with power or protection under the aegis of a powerful individual or group. To use your example, the guardsmen and navy personell are probably going to be traded over without much sweat on the part of the humans, but the techpriests are members of the AdMech which will probably at least give some token protesting about it, the governer's cousin may be protected by the governor if he cares about his relatives more than the threat of being raided, and Rogue Traders are seriously dangerous people to deal with.
