Subject: Games Workshop apologise to US White Dwarf subscribers.
Wasn't just the April issue. Most of my subscription issues have been 1-2 weeks late (or more in the case of the first issue and the April issue). Hopefully they can find a different solution that can get the issues out on time in the future.

Same here. Very unfortunate. I wonder what they are going to do to make it right.
I had just recently emailed them about only having 1 out of all of the new WD's on time with my subscription. All others were a minimum of 1 week after the FLGS got their copies. I am still waiting on April's.
Hopefully they can fix this mess.

I also recently contacted them. April's issue is completely missing, and the last few months have been two weeks late as well. They mentioned in their email that they are looking for a new distributor, and I hope they work it all out before I have to decide whether to renew.

I just called and, in addition to sending the current issue expedited shipping to me(they said it might be a while though), they are adding two issues to the end of my subscription. Pretty top notch customer service.

Getting déjà vu here, as this happened to Dutch subscribers a few years ago (copies arriving late, not at all or torn to shreds), it was bad enough for me to not renew my subscription as GW then was not doing an awful lot to remedy the problem, simply telling subscribers to pick up their copy at their nearest GW store (which at that point were only three in this country!), though I do hope the new GW puts the boot down on this subpar distributor and finds one capable of doing it instead.

I thought I was losing my mind, I have only received one White Dwarf on time. I have 3 magazines still in factory seal from having double copies due to them FedExing me a replacement and then a week later my original showed up... Still no sign of April but Im always told to wait to about this time to contact them.
Im glad they are looking into it, as I was heavily considering not sub'ing again next year due to this mess.

Just called them. They have shipped a new copy. For subscribers, they're adding 2 months to your subscription. I guess that's US only?
He told me that my receiving a copy more than a week after the stores is one of the reasons they are going with a new distributor.
Good. I was a bit worried that I was a little forceful to the poor CS employee and those two extra issues were a way to shut me up. I hate asking for free stuff. As an Army veteran, I always feel a little gross when I ask for a military discount.
The service they used to ship White Dwarfs went out of business or somesuch.
Last week they were giving $55 gift certificates, but it looks like they've calmed down to +2 free issues.

It isn't just the US, and they're really quick to blame the logistics company.
I signed up in the pre-order, out of the 4 issues I let it run for, 3 were late and two never arrived (one I got replaced and one was the final straw that prompted me to cancel, it wasn't a good enough read to be worth the hassle.)
Each time there were thinly veiled implications that Royal Mail had somehow fethed up, they even offered to start shipping my copies in brown envelopes to try and increase reliability.
Royal Mail simply isn't that bad. Outside of this instance I've had precisely one package not arrive on time (it took three weeks instead of 2-3 days) in the last 20 years at least, and I even spoke to my dad at the time it was ongoing, he works from home and sends a lot of mail back to head office and vice versa, and his experience is about the same.
I'd say it's quite possible that the distributor "informing them they could no longer fulfill their obligations" may actually be "told us to feth off because we're quite disorganized and they got fed up with us messing them around."
But we'll never know.

On UK delivery reliability, TBH all my UK copies have arrived on time or early in good nick. YMMV, but at least it's not the state the US is in. Good to see they're taking action at a supply AND a customer satisfaction level.

I had a subscription for decades and finally dropped it because of Warhammer Monthly was the worse magazine GW produced and the continuous late arrival time.
This is nothing new.. but as a company do they do supplier audits? apparently they do not because this has gone on for years... never consistent each month.
My understanding is the magazines are printed and sent to GW's warehouse, then part of the magazines are sent bulk mailed with direct weekly orders to stores;
Then subscribers magazines are shipped from the GW's Warehouse to a clearing house because most print manufactures are only willing to ship one address.
Depending on the clearing house that mails out the magazines working through thousands of orders could take weeks if poorly staffed and on top of that the magazines are
then being shipped out media mail rate..
No wonder the delay.
I hope the executive that made this decision gets in hot water... customers buying direct are more profitable most of the time... don't treat them second rate just to save a few pennys

I've had several issues re-sent to me by customer service, and it doesn't seem like I'm the only one. I doubt very much they are saving any pennies when they end up having to overnight a large number of issues every month. I'm sure GW knew what was going on, but it takes time to change these things - especially if the distributor was stringing them along saying that it was a temporary thing and that it would be better next month.

Possibly. That's the trouble with double speak, it's deliberately vague so you can't really pick the bones out of it.

My mileage DID vary, that's why I cancellled. But to imply that the issue lay with an institution that pretty much every member of the U.K. population has experience with and will generally know to be very dependable, on no less than three occasions, struck me as being incredibly tenuous.

I have been taken care of but this was 2 months in a row thay mine was 2+ plus weeks late. I applauded them in my email for looking for a new distributor.

I get my copy in Sweden, from the Netherlands, pretty much bang on time every month. Sorry to hear that anyone has to wait weeks for their WD..
My only problem is self-control. I always tell myself that I'll wait for the WD to find out what the coming month's new releases are, but I always cave in and read them on Dakka first.
This month will be different!

The problem must lie with the dispatchers (GW) on this one. I have never had a late WD issue and I was someone who carried over from the old WD to Visions to the new Dwarf.
Also, it seems from the circles I chat in that the problem only seems to happen to those who resubscribed to the new monthly WD. No evidence of that just hearsay.

I went from WD, to Visions, to WD with one Sub, and due to a miscommunication also took out an annual sub to the new WD - never had a late or missing issue?

Royal Mail may be generally reliable. Your local postie perhaps not so much. I've had periods of a week's mail turning up all at once for a period of two or three months. Postie changed, service improved.

I don't have a problem with late magazines. I mean, once you get past the bump on the first one you're getting them at a regular pace again, you're just a week behind. I understand the principle of expecting a service to be on time, though. I'll be giving them a call today.

I live in a small town, I know most of the postmen (and ladies) by name, the chap who most often does our round is the son of the mayor and our mums worked together for decades. I appreciate your first reaction is to defend GW, and in a large town or city you may have a point, but this is the country, things don't work quite the same, and it wouldn't explain zero issues with any other delivery (another symptom of living in the country is mail order gets used a lot) half as elegantly as the people who were supposed to be sending it cocking it up.

Living near the great lakes, I have had several late issues. So far the last two prior issues showed up a week after release. The most recent issue, well, I never got the newest white dwarf. I was wondering if it was even going to be released until I saw this thread. Would be nice to get two or three free issues for this bs as a subscription isn't necessarily cheap.

I guess you have to call to be anything extra as an apology. I had already emailed about the missing April issue (and complained about how most issues have been late) before the facebook post. They sent out a replacement, but no offer of extra issues or anything.
