I guess you have to call to be anything extra as an apology. I had already emailed about the missing April issue (and complained about how most issues have been late) before the facebook post. They sent out a replacement, but no offer of extra issues or anything.

You might check your account and see if your subscription was extended.

So as mentioned in the monthly WD threads my expierence with delivery to date has been 6 out of 8 issues late enough, i.e. had not arrived by following Friday after release, to get "replacement" dispatched via FedEx, so 6 out of 8 times I was getting the issue about 12 days late. With the exception of the the April issue, the mailed copy would eventually arrive anywhere from 14 to 18 days after release date. April's has not arrived.

Having worked previously for a printer that did a lot of bulk mail both internally and with thrid party mail houses on time sensitive mailings, i.e. sales adverts, seasonal promotions, etc. I know that hitting a delivery date via bulk mail is not only doable, but is actually pretty routine if the mail preperation is done correctly, e.g. the CASS certifcation, sorting, labeling, etc. Typically, the mailer, in this case GW, would add "z" copies (so called because a Z would appear as a middle initial) that would deliver to a designated addresses to measure delivery performance. That is why I found it very odd that my WD subscription was so consistently late. I had resigned myself that I would routinely have to call GW every Friday after release to get a "replacement" copy shipped and I am glad I did the same for April as it seems that the mailed copy was never going to arrive.

It seems that GW was willing to tolerate the late deliveries so long as the cost of sending out "replacments" didn't reach a prohibitive level. Apparently the mailing house that they were using went from just being late to being unable to deliver at all (If it was a third party problem as claimed by GW).

So the cynical side of me sees the annoucment as (bad) GW finally admitting that there is a problem only after a catastrophic delivery failure, when the warning signs had been there for months. Consequently GW deserves whatever damage to reputation and their finances.

The more forgiving side of me is encouraged by this annoucment and evidence that (good) GW is on the case and will make things right. I will be looking forward to seeing improvment with May's delivery.

I can't log in from work, but go to the GW site and log in, then go to your account. There should be a place that shows your subscription information.

I don't see anything like that. The only place I can find my subscription is in the order history, but it just says 12 month subscription with no details about start or end date.

Huh. You're right. I checked last night as well.

In that case, call the 1-800 number from the first post. They will tell you about your subscription.

They told me that they're adding 2 extra months to every current US subscription. I don't know how to verify that either, short of calling the customer service again and being told the same thing.

Glad to hear they're doing something about this issue. Normally I just wait for the issue to come in and don't sweat it but I was really looking forward to this months. I had emailed in and was told that the Friday after the release date is considered the "late delivery date" and they would Fed Ex me a copy if I hadn't received my issue by then.

Short story shorter- I did not and they did.

That's good to hear.
Out of the four magazines I have gotten through the subscription, only one has arrived within one week of the store release. Two never came at all until I emailed GW, including the April.
The email I got back told me they were switching distributors, but had no mention of any extended subscriptions.

Too bad I missed the gift card though, I was told earlier that they wouldn't do anything until it was two weeks past the release date, so I didn't bother until then.

I like that they are at least being transparent. Hopefully my copy comes today. Generally I have pretty fast mail service.

Apparently that's just what they're doing. 3 months added according to others on this very thread.
