Not sure I actually like the model... Maybe he just needs painting but I'm not really that excited about getting him. :/

As far as fluff goes, looks like he did say the Chaos Gods are MAKING marines! So much for the emperor's recipe being private. Also someone mentioned above about timelines, do we know how far the fluff is advancing?

This makes sense though, right? Over time, Chaos Marines would definitely dwindle faster than they could ever be replaced. The chaos Gods *had* to have been making marines over this time or they'd run out.

Sugar. Spice. Everything Nice. These are the ingredients to create a Slaanesh Marine.

I always assumed they just stole geneseed and relied on defecting marines/marine chapters (which seem to be fairly common in fluff).

Looks like a cool sculpt, though I do have a question, whats up with the deathguard and bells? Is it some lame for whom the bell tolls kind of joke, or is there a fluffy reason for it.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

They do steal a lot of geneseed and hey sometimes get some cannon fodder from Bile.

I think it's something to do with ringing a bell when the cart for the dead came by (also lepers rang bells as they walked down the street). Generally the ringing of bells is associated with death i.e. christmas bellringing.

Grimgold, it's not specific to the Deathguard. Bells have been a common symbol for Nurgle in Fantasy and 40k for a long time. Oddly enough, this is the first time that the Deathguard have prominent bells [afaik].

Yes, it's a bit like Skaven, bells and pestilence seem to go together like salt and pepper. Only a bit more manky.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Why?

The first rule of unarmed combat is: don’t be unarmed.

Because my current DG would feel tiny and impotent

But in all honesty I think I'm just going to reclass them as a "Retro" army and use the 3.5 edition rules for them if I do want to play.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

According to the rumors, the shoulder pads can be swapped out.
Also there is no such thing as an undivided Plague Marine.

My plan is to use the newer stuff as Death Guard Plague Marines (tm) and the old metals as nurgle marked Chaos Marines.

I don't like running non-plague marines in 7th, hopefully standard Death Guard CSM in 8th are the equivalent of Plague Marines now, and the new Plague Marines are super duper dudes.
